Staying Cool w/ or w/o targa?

Hey everyone. As a lot of us do, I deleted my AC in May this year because of Hardpipe conflicts with the AC lines.

Anyways...I was wondering if it is cooler to keep the targa on during the 90+ degree days and stay out of the sun...or is it cooler taking the targa off for increased airflow. Most of my driving is about 40 to 60 mph.

I would imagine it's cooler with the targa off when going 40+, but it might be cooler to keep it on while driving through cities/towns at 25/30mph.

What does everyone's experience tell them?

I would find a way to put the ac back in.
Targa on or off, sucks when its too hot, without ac.

ive noticed its hotter with it off. leather interior doesnt help. but PO was nice enough to buy an extra roof and put a moonroof in it, with shades! lol
but ill suffer with the heat to cruise with the top off. LOOKS BOSS! lol

Definitely cooler with the targa on even w.o A/C. I hate being in the sun when it is hot outside. But A/C > both haha. But A/C + boost = fail :( at least on our Mk3 anyways

The way my hardpipes are run, I'm going to need a custom AC system put in. I got a quote from a guy for 2k to do it. Might be a next big expense for me after the HP upgrades are done.

No ac is not an option for me. Honestly I cannot justify ripping it all out and decreasing the value of your car just for a few pounds savings and an extra horsepower. I have hardpipes with ac, lots of people do so I don't see why there would be anything that you couldn't overcome with just a little forethought:)

Yeah, the guy said that he would hook up the stock compressor and just bypass the lines where the IC piping is. Said the 2k is not including parts. It's probably more like 3k with parts I'm guessing.

The AC wasn't working when I took the AC lines out for the hardpipes...so at the time it didn't seem a big deal. I have a 2010 camry as a winter driver...I drive that when it gets really hot...its just that I would rather drive the supra when there is not snow.

Have had the targa off for about 3 straight weeks! LOVE IT!. If it does start to warm up a bit, I turn on the A/C, or if it's too cold in an evening, I'll use some heat. Still bad@$$ driving with it off.

There are dozens of options available to keep your A/C. Not sure why you need to spend thousands, but I have a 2J in mine and am fine. Also, places like ackits.com or specialty hose places will get you a custom line which will work with your set up. Ain't that complicated, /crazy, or needing that much $$ to make functional.

What ac lines were in the way? There is definitely a better solution than a 3k ac install.

Once this passed summer Targa on = cooler. Targa off, about 90 degree day, sun beating in, WAY TO Fing HOT on my head. Pulled over, put top back on, rolled up windows, and cranked up the A/C . Yes Im running a FFIM also ;)
