This all began as a swap from a n/a 7m auto car to a turbo 5-speed. I bought an ebay engine with trans from a Canadian vendor that promised "the pictured item is what you are buying" only to receive an engine with an auto trans flex plate and a 5-speed locked in 2nd gear. After buying the correct wiring harness and ECU, I did replace head gasket and used ARP bolts and ran the car about 1000 miles before the #6 rod bearing disintegrated.
I have had all the machine work done by a race shop that claims to have done many of these engines, but got it home yesterday only to find no bearing installed for the oil pump driveshaft, and no metal head gasket as ordered, so no building this weekend.
I plan to post pictures as I build it, and will answer any questions within the limits of my knowledge.
