now i was in a rush yesterday so i havent had time to mess around with it but here is what the supra was doing...

lately you would turn the key to the start position and you here a click and then nothing for a couple seconds then it turns over and starts...

well yesterday it just made the click noise and nothing..

im assuming it is my battery not having enough juice to turn over the engine.. the positive terminal is brand new and there is no corrosion there... there is power to everything and when you turn to start and it clicks like my radar resets and everything...

tonight im going to try to jump start it to make sure its the battery.. but im just seeing if anyone had any other ideas before hand

I've been having the same problem. Each time I'll hold the key in the crank position until it fires up; sometimes 10 sec or more. It's worse in the winter. The guy at the local auto electrical shop checked it out and said the starter was going bad; just haven't took the time to swap it out. So check that first.

could be the starter, could be the battery, could be the power cable. Mine does it sparratically and i did a battery test and found out i have low electrolyte levels and sulfated plates. so yeah, i should replace that. I hope it stops when i do that

i had the same problem with my car. I relpaced the battery, starter, cables, terminals, ans altenator, and still had the same problem. Everytime i replaced something it just prolonged the problem for a while. I installed a push button starter, and I have no problems anymore.

The starter isn't a lot of fun. The top bolt is a real PITA. If the EGR is removed, you will have an easier time with it.

Why not autozone...that's what I have in my car and it's been fine for about 9 months now...

alright update after putting the starter back in i noticed a plug hanging there... its the KS next to the starter :aigo:

so that is why i have been getting bad gas millege and the end of it looks pretty burnt up so to me it seems that the plug was touching the starter causing it to spark and not causing it to start? The really bad gas millege and weird starting all happened around the same time so i hope that is what it is

*edit* would you trust getting a KS off ebay? Also can i get the KS off with the manifold on?

update again

got the starter back in everything hooked back in and it fired right up no click noise or anything...

so it was my knock sensor touching the starter causing it to short out..

now i just have to get me a new KS
