the other day i opened the door on my 89 non turbo by using the key to unlock the door and the alarm went off. i quicky hopped in the car and put the key in the ignition to turn it off. then the car wouldn't start. i thought it was the starter till i put positive power from the battery and the starter worked fine. i tried everything from the relay to the ignition and i diagnosed the problem to be in the alarm. i know my micro switches are bad in both doors but i kneed to know how to reset the alarm. i just want to be able to start the car. i have wires coming in for a litle button but it doesn't solve my problem. if someone could tell me how to reset the alram and maybe a link to somewhere i oculd get micro switches. the toyota delaer is retarded they told me it was aftermarket and to look for a box under the dash that had a-lot of wires coming from it. also no parts store can get me the micro switches

Close the door. Lock it with the key. Unlock it with the key (turn it all the way) then open the door. If alarm does not go off, start car.

If you need to drive the car right away and don't have time to inspect further, try something different. It sounds like someone else has played with the alarm already since there is that switch you mentioned which isn't stock. Try going in through the hatch :p then at least you'll know for sure if the problem lies within the door. Or, you can try opening the car, letting the alarm go off as you said it does, and wind down the window. Lock back the door and poke ur head out the window and lock the door back with the key. See if it starts then :p

Try different methods with the switch engaged ir disengaged.

The best thing I would suggest to do as soon as you get the time though is to open the door skin and take a look. See if anything is broken or unhooked or if there are wires ran than should be there. This shouldn't be hard but might take some time, with removing and replacing the skin, and tracing/fixing the problem. This is why I said try this as soon as you have time, if you haven't already.

if you want a easy way to have no alarm just unscrew the alarm switches in the doors and take the spring out so you dont have the alarm flick on when you shut your door. you can screw the switch back in to make it look like you still have an alarm.

yea he doesn't know how to talk. does anyone know what switch i have to replace to get the alarm to stop going off when i open the door. i took the door apart and found a-lot of switches and i dont know what one i am suppossed to replace. i found the door lock solenoid. the door lock control relay. the lock cylinder. i think i pulled like 8-10 connections hoping to get it to start that way but no luck.

if anyone knows where that switch is that would help me a whole lot. i will replace them because i want the alarm to work right but i dont know where they are or what they look like and there are so many switches inside that door.
