Well as the title says, I can start the car, it runs pretty good, somewhat a rough idle (I do not have a 02 sensor yet.. hopefully in a day or 2). but then if you stop the car and go back to try and start it back up, it wont.. but then come back say a day later and it will fire right up. It is throwing a code 24, and sometimes a code 11. I have used a continuity tester on the temp sensor wire, I found no break in the signal, I checked the AFM for correct resistance values at temp, all checked out. Tried to clear the code and unplug the AFM and start car, still nothing, just for shits and grins, I jumped the diag block to check fuel pump.. works, and has excellent pressure. injectors are all working, getting spark in all 6 cylinders. As for the code 11, I checked all the grounds I know of, I have the grounds to intake manifold, ground from exhaust side to fire wall, ground from neg. battery terminal to engine bay, ground on starter, and ground on coilpack. I also swapped ECU's to check maybe mine is shot.. still the same thing. Would a 02 sensor do all this? I wouldnt think so.. but hey maybe I am the crazy one :aigo: any one have a clue what I should do next? :1zhelp: thanks everyone.

Sounds like the same issue I had with Lucy. Never did figure out what fixed it, but after my complete rebuild my issues just went away. To this day I have no idea what caused it, or what fixed it.

Trying to troubleshoot a problem with a known problem is going to be a crapshoot.

FIX YER DAMN O2 SENSOR! Then see what happens.

O2 signal is not used by the ECU until it reaches operating temperature anyway.

Car should run in open loop.

So no one else has a clue as of what I should do? I am thinking of just tearing out the wire harness and rewire it on the motor... anyone think this could help something?

Well I can tell you from my experience this is a really frustrating problem. In the TSRM there is a flowchart type diagnosis procedure for Crank but no start. My problem was definitely a fuel flood issue, but I never was able to pin point the cause.

I determined it was a flood problem by the fact that when I removed fuel pressure by disconnecting the fuel pump and cranking until it would fire again, then reconnecting the fuel pump and it would run just fine. After I got an AFPR, I could get the car to start by dialing out pressure to near zero then once it started I could crank the pressure back up to allow the engine to run properly again. You might want to start there for your diagnosis.

Hmm....... sounds familar. Does it smell like fuel? If so it may be the same problem mine had. I found that my csi was stuck open pumping fuel into the intake and flooding the motor. Still waiting to get my new one in from toyota. I just blocked off the port on the fuel rail till then. It cost me $130.00:cry:

might have been mentioned before, but next time it won't start, wiggle the CPS wires. if it starts up, your wiring needs to be fixed. or you can be lazy and do the wiggle mod every time it won't start.
