ok so everyone has heard the rumors about the lack of quality of SSautochrome

so you have heard of turbo breaking off the manifolds well here it is
aas.jpg

notice the welds on the runners and then look at the weld on the part that broke they are not the same machine someone rewelded it using a arc welder.

I agree with the cheapness, but the above appears to be caused by some one running a quite heavy Holset hx35 or hx40.... WITH OUT ANY SUPPORT once so ever.

Also, when the tubes don't fit, alot of welders or robots play "gas station" and fill up the welds with tons of rod. Not good!

***Edit***

Thats not an SSautochrome issue manifold weld job either. They don't come with that type of oddball t3 Holset flange.

SS autocrome is a reseller of Chinese made Manifolds, they DO NOT MAKE THEM!!!

That looks like a honda b18a and it also looks like it was braced....
This also looks like it was redone or bought used from someone who rewelded a differant flange on there.... Honda guys are know for this....

i think that's a great idea... nothing better than having the facts from someone that has tested and tried... altho it may take a while for the little things to show up

i've got one of their turbos.. so i'll see if that falls apart LOL... planning to get one of their manifolds and make two braces from flange to flange... so i guess i'll be another guinea pig hehe :)

If I had to judge from that picture alone, I'd say the cracking had more to do with the owner than the design. The car is pieced together with a duct tape approach.

Notice that the flange was cut off & rewelded (shitty welds at that), it's missing at least one exhaust flange nut & a hole has been torched through what appears to be part of the unibody.

Shit in = shit out

one fo these manifolds was put to the test using AEROSPACE techinque for inspecting welds and what not. Needless to say that the welds were lacking in MANY spots.

I'd like to compare the name-brand ones to it this way as well.... High-price/brand-name does not guarantee it will be better. Tho everyone says they're higher quality, I haven't seen the data to prove it.

I had one of the honda SSautchrome manifolds and one of the supra ssautochrome manifolds taken to a turbo shop and had them compared.

The honda ones are pure shit. They had a ton of those manifolds lying around in a junk pile all cracked and looking like "glass."

BUT, the supra ones are made from thicker steel and they have yet to see one crack like that.

as already said that does look like its been redone and its in what looks like to be a honda engine, even the brace look like they where arc welded on which is no wonder why it broke ,

I have one of the 2JZ kits on mine, except for the turbo.... Seems pretty decent and tho I am not going high-HP, looks like it will hold up pretty well with the small turbo I have on there now. For the price, can't be beat...
