Seriously? Get a Saturn Ion Redline, with the performance package (quaife LSD, recaro seats, etc)

It's the most practical AND fun car I have ever driven. I thought 'omfg it's a SATURN' but a test drive changed that for me.

Test one out. My wife knocks down 32.1mpg in hers. For some reason, I only get about 23.6 out of it, though ;)

The trunk will hold a pedestal spoiler with room to spare, WITHOUT putting the rear seats down. Dent resistant panels (and yes, already had someone push a cart into it. I flipped the hell out - they didn't see my 6'1" 230lbs of ass in the back seat)

Did I mention that normal people fit in the back, with room to spare? 4 doors - but looks like 2! (twin suicide doors)

Just because something is newer doesn't make it better. Is bigger always better? No.

We have two "newer" cars if our family - My uncles 04 Ford mondeo and my gran's 05 Vaxhuall Corsa and they are for lack of a better word, shit. My 530 (which was built in 1994) MURDERS the the build quality of the Ford, and while at it, it manages to deliver a better ride and driving experience.

Don't even get me started on Comparing the 05 Corsa to the "86" supra. I honesty can't think of a single thing that car does better than the Supra, aside from gas mileage. That car is shockingly bad on so many levels, it's sad.

My personal opinion are that quality of cars is getting worse, not better, but whatever.

How about a E36 M3? Kinda in your price range. My dad got one a few months ago and it has been good. Decent power too.

edit* forgot you wanted low mileage.. Probably not going to find one in your price range.

We're talking about a daily driver.

car from '05 > car from '86

Use your brain. You don't need me to spell it out for you.

Newer car, lower mileage, less wear and tear, warranty. etc etc etc.

A low number on a odometer is a guarantee that the car is going to be any good. Same thing goes on the "wear and tear" point - Just because it's newer doesn't mean it hasn't been ragged within an inch of it's life, this applies threefold on a car like the SRT-4 - A vehicle that is driven majority by red blooded, adolescent males.

I can't argue against the warranty point much further than you shouldn't have to buy a car because it has a warranty - I prefer the piece of mind that my car is going to start in the morning.

While I don't entirely agree that the OP should get a supra, I don't believe that he should get a SRT-4 just because it's newer and you get a lower number on the odometer.

I'm not willing to argue this further. I've said my piece, do with it as you may.

Be realistic.

A car made in '05 is a much more logical choice for a daily driven vehicle than one from '86. I don't know why you feel the need to dispute that.

Nothing is guaranteed with a vehicle. A 20 year old car is much more prone to failure than one that is 2-3 years old. And when it happens, there is no warranty. Period.

Everything is much newer, much lower mileage, and has a warranty. That's it. I don't need to go into specific what ifs and individual cases.

I don't know what vested interest you have in disputing this.

my car is N/A... but i own a turbo gst eclipse that i rebuilt, has a Quaife LSD and all sorts of goodies... but i HATE it, i dont fit for SHIT... which is why i like the supra... the SRT-4 seemed like a good idea... but after reading some of the stuff on here i'll go look on craigslist some more...

I enjoy rebuilding engines... so if i can find an M3 with high milage and rebuild it, i'd do that, i like the older M3's like 1990 and what not... the boxy ones.

No saturn here... theres one by my friends house, and i cant stand the thing.

car from 03 >>>>> car from 86.5. bottom line...

I enjoy a little bit of power, which is why i thought of the srt, but i really enjoy inline 6's, like the bmw. Plus its RWD.

what other kind of cars can you relate to a supra? BMW M3 are close arent they? Im still kind of thinking that i should just put power steering back on the supra... althought i found out today that i had the passenger side endlink nut was MISSING. so thats fixed and the supra is a lot easier to drive...

Any other cars you'd suggest? besides hybrids and hondas...

Nevermind on the 89ish on the M3... there only 4 cylinder. lol

One of the best, if not THE best 4 cyl of it's time. Dont discredit the car beacuse it's "only" 4 cyl. the S14 (m3 motor) has individual TB's and has a very high power/displacement ratio. The car is also heavenly to drive.

If you cant tell, I'd give my left nut to own one :naughty:

Haha, I've thought what you thought for a LONG time now, I just don't say it. :)

Get a Geo Metro. Most fuel efficient+cheap car ever, HAHA. Too bad it's a deathtrap.

If you don't have a problem with your Supra staying NA and having a turbo DD, I'd say the WRX is for you. Not an STi, just a WRX. You can do a couple mods to liven them up without having to stress the car too much. It's a lot nicer than the SRT for sure. Nothing against the SRT as it does what it was meant to do very well. Pretty good performance without breaking the bank built off an already common platform. I knew a few guys with SRTs that were damn quick but there's more to a car other than the performance and there's a lot of cars that beat the SRT in other important categories like over all feel, quality, interior, etc.
