spun bearing

2 7MGTE motors with a spun bearing. is it worth it worth it to fix it of find another engine?

A spun bearing may have done some damage to the crank, but nothing that's not fixable by doing a regular inspection and at least a partial rebuild on the bottom of the engine. Unless something else cut loose in there, you're not in too bad shape.

he said he cracked one open and it needed minor welding and machining.both happened by people trying to do burnouts without a built bottom end. should i ask him for pictures to show you guys before i buy them?

Definately on the pics. Some of the other guys have dealt with spun bearings before and will know better than me how to gauge how much damage has really been done, AND if they're worth salvaging.

btw. hes selling me two motors.turbo with minor shaft play. ecu. piping. intercoolers. wiring. brackets and EVERYTHING needed to convert and then some for 3 bills. same year too!

for 3 bills for 2 engines is a good deal. at most throw the old crank a away get the block inspected and find a new crank. the one looks to be a newer block,

That looks like a 7M crank. If it is, I'd definitely see if it can be fixed before I would throw it away

That being said id buy it....cranks can be fixed by being ground and then running and oversize bearing.

Before you spend the money, make a pact with yourself to always run 1 quart over, and never rev past 6000, and you should be golden.

^^^^hell no! i never hit the limiter or let it go that high. i understand more oil is good for harder turn*sloshing* etc. ill make sure to get everything balanced though.

Only down to a 10 thou cut then you have to niteride them as the stock induction hardening isn't very deep.

where can i find information about what is recommended to do when getting a 7m engine machined? a thread maybe? i just some guidelines or info before i just hand it over to the machine shop. :1zhelp:
