umad? :biglaugh:

lol i have owned both targa and hard top. i prefer hard top more for what i want to do with the car :)

i must admit the targa has many upsides, the attention you get from people (wimmin folk especially :naughty: ) being a big one. If i ever manage to be financially secure id like to own a clean near stock targa car for taking to the beach and such.

till then Hard top is winrar!

I originally wanted a sunroof Mk3 for convenience. The problem is that this chassis was designed to be a Targa, so that the roof is small and short, with lots of rear bracing. Because of this, the sunroof can only open half-way and kind of defeats the purpouse. Compared to my Mk2, with a much longer roof, the sunroof can slide much farther back and create a bigger opening.

I love the sunroof. There are times when I do miss the targa, though.

Moe is right, there is a stance that the sunroof gives, especially on black ones. It's badass.

electric sliding roof is rare. i believe those were 91-92 only, which are the most rare years too. well, aside from the 93, but those werent imported.

a lot of the sunroofs (non elec slide) were dealer installed options.

im sure jeff will be in here to correct me if im wrong. and im sure someone will have to comment about moonroof vs sunroof lol.

I'm not sure if the ASC was a dealer-installed option or a port-installed option, either way the result is the same, the sunroof was installed after the car was completed and brought to the USA.

Factory sunroof was 1991+ option, and semi-rare, but only because there aren't many of those years. As far as rarity within the 91+ group of cars, quite a few have the sunroof.

(Also, while we didn't call them 1993 models here, Toyota did produce the A70 for North America until well into 1993 -- they just weren't called as such).

The first surpa I ever drove was an 88 with an electric moonroof. It was very nice from the outside, but looked like hell on the inside. The headliner was falling down around the hole for the sunroof and such. I'd love to have a huge perfectly installed electric sunroof, but I have yet to see one in really good shape.

My '89 has the electric moon roof and I noticed that the headliner is coming down. Time to get some velcro up in it to keep it up where it belongs...after I get the car running good enough to start driving it! :icon_bigg

I picked up an '87 NA for a buddy, that has a sunroof - but it's not electric (that I know of)

Jeff, know anything about a moonroof option?

ASC American specialty cars make sunroofs/moonroofs and convertibles for car manufactures. I am a fan of the Targa top but my Supra is also my fun car. Not really a track car. So being able to remove the roof is a nice.
If it was a track car I would have wanted a hard top. I am not a big fan of the sunroofs in the Supra the opening seems a bit small.
