OK, here's the deal, when I took my car out today for a drive, I noticed that the speedometer is not working. It's stuck at 0mph, but everything else was still working just fine. I have an automatic, and the overdrive light was just blinking without me even touching it, does anyone know what the problem could be? Please help me out, because I'm so effin lost and I don't know what to do about it.

Thanks

You're so lost that you posted in the website recommendations forum. :biglaugh:

If you want some help, you might have to wait for a mod to move this thread to a place more suited to answer questions regarding the OD light and a broken speedo.

Did this problem only occur once on you? Does it work at all now? You can get codes from the overdrive light, via TSRM. There are input from the computer for speed and such too.

I would revise your wording. The folk on here don't take well to crappy spelling.

Thread title change, post edited for clarity.

Chances are it is your speedometer cable. The speed signal for the automatic transmission also comes from the speedometer (speed sensor is in the speedo). You're going to need to inspect your speedometer cable, there are 3 pieces to it. Find the one that is broken and replace it.

You probably won't find one anywhere but a Toyota dealer, but you can check.

Good luck.

A note: Please take a good long look at how your post now looks, and where it is. I hope you can fix your car, I really do, but please learn from this. You will get so much more help in the future if you can replicate what I just did.

WTF I answered your question with exactly what's wrong and how to fix it. You act like I gave you a hard time without answering you 100%.

You have a broken speedometer cable. It just broke today. You need a new one.
