I wondered that once upon a time as well, and all I remember is that something is loose :1zhelp:

Try putting some oil in the cable. It will tend to jump at low speed when it drys up and sticks.

Bouncing is a good sign that it's on it's way out if you don't lube that bitch up, they don't like it dry . Do what ^ he said.

To the OP, the bottom cable is the one that fails on the majority of our supras, plus it's easier to take out and check.
