Speedo cable keeps breaking!!

Like the title states.

I've put two speedo cables(small part, r154.) and both broke

Is there something better as an upgrade?

Or anything else?

Have you been getting new ones from the Toyota dealership or getting used ones as replacements? The speedo cable goes out quite frequently on these cars, and a new OEM cable from Toyota is the best fix.

Stop accelerating so fast. J/K. I have another small cable for R154 if you want it. I bought new ones for my car.

I was using some used ones off the junkyard.

How much do they go new?

And thanks for the offer plau000 but in I might just get me a new one.

did you oil it? they can sometimes bind if they are dry, but if you pour a small amount of oil down them it seems to help.

Get new ones from Toyota. Small one is under $20 from Champion, big one is like $70.

Old ones fail often. Using junkyard parts is the problem. I went through a couple myself before just buying a new set.

anyone have any idea if i can get the little bracket that holds the drive gear into the tranny? I lost mine while rebuilding
