Lil Problem here fellas!

i just did a valve cover gasket replacement on my 88t MTx Supra GOD knows it needed THem. For SOme reason nobody seems to have a freakin 14 Hex to remove the cylinder cover mines is in a poor condition.! lol

i will be driving normal and the cars starts to sputter like once or twice [NO CODES} doesn't matter what gear im in or speed im going it seems to happen under 3k Rpm [im guessing the spark plugs are on there way out]
---the only vac. leak i have is the cool plate on the back of the motor is missing--

I got a chance to see from up top, What my spark plugs look like and i can see some oil [hench why i change the valve cover] i wanted to go ahead and replace the spark pugs/wires but not sure which is the best for my buck! what you guy THink? HOPEfully this fiixes the issue

Just use NGK coppers for plugs, and pick up some new wires.

As for the 14mm hex, just take a 14mm bolt, next put 2 nuts on it and tighten them( the nuts) together at the end of the threads of the bolt. Put the head of the bolt in the hex spot on 3rd cover then use a 14mm scocket or wrench to spin them off. Sorry I didn't take a pic of mine but I hope you understand.

This, or check autozone, believe it or not they had the bit I needed to take mine off.

I got my 14mm off amazon for ~$10. If I had known about the NAPA oring trick before I purchased a new 3rd valve cover I would have gone that route. Someone had part #'s listed for the Orings if you feel like searching, IIRC they were oil plug gaskets for some truck or you could always bring one of the plugs in and match it up.

As for the plugs/wires, I've been running the same set of NGK Iridium for just over 4 years now. I'll be changing them within the next couple months, more for age than for any spark issues. Wires, stick with the standard NGK.
While you can run copper and they are the preferred 'high hp' plugs, platinum or iridium are better for a dd/lower hp since you don't have to change them as often.

I went with ngk and msd cables for 85 bucks.....when I changed my cables I noticed oil....so I took all the plugs out and all the oil went into the holes.....

wait, so your EGR cooler plate is missing?

I sure hope you have the egr plugged off on both sides of the head....If not, I'd remedy this ASAP.
