i use iridium ix in my honda turbo jetski (15psi)and will be putting them in the supra. They are oem for the honda. They last a very long time and spark well under higher boost. My buddy broke the ceramic centers of his autolites at 30psi on his dsm. No prob with the ngk's.

i went NGK Iridiums..$6.99each @ summitracing.com or you can get them at your local O'Reily's..:)

as for Autolites coppers...my cousin ran them and they were boggin his car out and they were all worn with juss a few hundred miles on them...from what he says..."They suck!" Also Stevevangst on these forums also ran the Autolite coppers and they were giving him problems too...he switched to NGK Iridiums 4919(i think).

Well guys, just like I suspected. I woke up early Saturday morning (only time there isn't any traffic in my area) and spent 2 hours down one of the main avenues (we call it "La Piñero"). There are quite a number of speed shops and normal auto shops down the entire street (which is a few miles long). Only ones that had Autolites was a Ford/GM shop mid-ways, but had none in stock.

Now, someone said (feeling too lazy to go quote) that the iridiums would last "3 times as longer" than the copper tipped plugs or something. If this is so, then $7 for each one is actually pretty damn well, specially considering that they are designed to resist strong engines. Only problem is that one of the speed shops I visited made me the offer of $52 for a set of 4 plugs...... which I found to be a rip off. I think the guy actually expected me to try to run without my last 2 cylinders.....

I didn't bother asking about the iridiums in any of the other shops, but I think I'll give it a go today if there isn't much traffic. Else, is summitracing the best place to get them or does anyone else recommend another site?

just go with the standard ngk and forget the rest. i know some guys around here that change their spark plugs with their oil, just for insurance. iridiums would get expensive in that case.

Ah, I don't do that. At least not now. But I do have the tendency of changing the plugs every 2 years or so.

So, what's the part # for the NGK's? Just so I can go buy them later at 12 today.

sparkplugs.com is 11 bux + shipping last yr when i chk'd. I pd 14 each at napa and consider it worth it. PEP boys has em cheaper but not in stock when i went there. Summit would be a bargain. We put 800hrs on em , on watercraft, and that's just unheard of for plugs on a watercraft.

ngk's are the best, imo, iridium or not.

whats wrong with Bosch plugs? When i bought my set i had to change out the tips for longer ones that come in the box so they would bestock length and the gap was way to big but if you cange all that whats the problem?

There is one issue with the Autolites...they are about an 1/8" shorter than the stock spec plugs. This can cause a bad contact with the wires that results in arcing. It did exactly that on mine causing a slight misfire...it was most pronounced at idle. This was with MSD wires....it seem certain brand wires cause this more so than others.

I went to NGK iridiums...misfire solved.
The NGK coppers seem to be fine, never had a problem with arcing on those and always fit like a glove.

Yep, they are the stock length...work great. Cost a lot less than iridiums too. I'll be using nothing but NGK's from now on ;)

The choice of plugs is a matter of preference. Copper plugs are the best for conductivity, as they are just behind silver as being the most conductive metal. But.. they wear readily and require constant changing for best performance. The Iridium and platinum plugs don't erode, but are a cooler plug. The miniscule center electrode of most platinum plugs is it's downfall as there is less area for spark promulgation. Iridium is damn near indestructable, has o.k. conductivity and is very good in a high compression application, like a high boost mill. I happened into this because I was looking into some iridiums, and was wondering how you guys liked them. Sounds like those of you who have them like them.
My 63 cents....if you're stock, and want the best spark go copper electrode. I personally like ANYTHING Japanese. Plugs included. NGK or DENSO for me. I leave the Autolites and Motorcraft for the Camaro guys. If you're going to boost your powerplant, or just run it hard go iridium. It'll probably outlast your head gasket. And the Iridium will prevent detonation or pre-ignition. Iridium is the new Platinum, as far as performance goes, and it's just a matter of time before they replace platinum in OEM applications. Price wise they are about the same depending on where you shop. Good luck man.

::gasp:: that would be why my car constantly missed at idle like it had a vacuum leak... lol that's hilarious.... i had 3923's with MSD wires, and had the same result. that's great info jdub!
and thanks again to adam/mkiiitech.com for the big info laden thread as usual
