Spark plug wire order for 7M?

That isn't the firing order. You know, the wires can't be moved to the wrong spot if you are using the OEM set. Well, you could. But it should be glaringly obvious that something is wrong when the wires are pre routed.

The ignition is a waste spark system. The coil fires on the compression, and on the companion cylinder. That isn't the firing order. One other thing I don't get is, you used the online repair manual. Did you start at the begining of the section?

Unfortunetly yes, I'm serious. I really do not understand the order the TSRM is stating. Jet, please do tell me.

I was referring to you being the thread originator from 2008. I would think you'd have it figured out by now but I certainly understand why you're confused by the manual: it's missing information.

The page you're referring shows how the plug wires get routed in the clips, which has nothing to do with firing or wiring order. Problem is the wire numbers aren't shown in the clips like they're supposed to be. I dunno if that info is missing in every TSRM for that model year or just the one that got put online but my manual shows the numbers.

Anyway, starting with the top depiction and going clockwise wire placement is as follows: 6, 4, 5. Second depiction (my 87 manual doesn't shown the single clip so this would be the third one on Cygnus): 6 and 5. Next: 3 and 4 on the top, 6 and 5 on the bottom. Last (top to bottom) 6 and 5 on the right and 1, 3, 4, 2 on the left.

Clear now?

My 89 manual is missing the numbers as well, but the image is clear enough to figure it out (but I penciled them in anyway, thanks!).

I originally had the wiring order correct from two years ago. However, I am now just getting this car running. I haven't been able to work on it in quite a long time and I hate to say it, but I'm rusty as hell. When I was cranking it over yesterday it would not fire and I smelled gas. It appears it was dumping out of my divorce pipe. I pulled each plug to see if a particular injector was stuck open, but they were all soaked. I pulled each plug, dried it, and put anti-seize on the threads for good measure. Then I realized that I completely forget the coilpack wire order. I had nothing to refer to at the time except my 90 Turbo TSRM which apparently confused me again. I'll be driving all the way out to where my Supra is this evening after work to get the wires connected correctly. I still need to figure out how I'm flooding the engine when my Aeormotive AFPR is pegged at zero pressure even when cranking.

Thanks all.

Really, my coils show nothing. The wire caps have groups of dots from 1-3, but mine are scavenged from other vehicles so I have one 1 dot, one 2 dot, and four 3 dots. So that's not much help.

That sounds hard since the opening in the caps are angled to allow them to clip on correctly.

is it too hard to pull on the wire and see what plug its connected to? its 1-6 front to back you should be able to clearly see which wire goes to which plug.

i had my coil order wrong and my engine still ran, misfired like a bitch though so i realized something was wrong

Yeah, one is tweaked a little, but actually not too bad. Not enough to damage the wire and better than having nothing at all.
