how do these look? gapped .28 and one step colder then stock and about 1000 miles on the plugs

My thoughts, rich due to the carbon build up on the base ring, however im not seeing a full turn up the first thread on a few. and heat range seems good but whats with the coloring on the elbow of the ground strap? i thought this was timing but im clueless as to what its telling me.

If you have more input to what you are seeing please post it up as i like to learn!

side note: Af ratio in the mid tens to low elevens.
fresh compression test of:
1=150
2=150
3=150
4=157
5=158
6=158

All look fine to me Grim.

1/2 maybe a touch leaner than the rest but no deposits or anything else to indicate an issue developing.

Grab a stick of Antiseize to use on the threads when you reinstall em your head will thank you.

all had antisieze on them when i last changed them and all of them did when they went back in a few hours ago, thank ij!

No issues im trying to solve with this, just wanted a 2nd or 3rd opinion. Only reason i pulled them was to do a compression test due to some smoke at about 120mph earlier, dipstick poped out and oil sprayed all over the turbo and dp and i was just covering my ass and making sure. Obviously anther issue with the pvc which is plumbed like oem and has me scratching my head....

ill check the hose size in the am, but the hose fits perfectly over the stock valve cover nipples so I.Ds match. you thinking bigger lines ij?

If it's stock size lines and fittings your engine may be breathing a little more than they can cope with.

When was the last time you tightened your Cam Belt Tensioner and how tight did you torque it to?

36ft lbs on this past thursday. #1 is good in compression, or would that dip ive seen in pics of yours allow for good compression but lots of blow by?

Yep :(

Didn't seem to affect compression much at all but did blowby a shitload, that's when I first went to the -10 fittings and hoses as I got sick of pushing the dipstick back in and at high rpm it would puke Oil onto the WG.

sob, i can say it wasnt ME that did it but who knows what techs laid their hands on her over the years, at this point its over compensate with some bigger lines or a rebuild?

of course ill pull all the lines to make sure theres no blockage or anything else that could cause this...;)

how did your #1 plug look after this? was there any signs of oil or did it look the same as the rest?

well, tore out the pcv system and catch can and re did it to oem style with 3/4 hose that fits the 1/2 fittings o.d. perfectly and opened up the port on the intake tube to 1/2 as well. seems it might be over kill with the hose size but at least its done. only restriction is the two valve cover ports that i cant do anything about for right now. this car is wearing me out, time to put her back together and enjoy it a bit, until i find something else that needs tweaking or fixed.... Grim= tired ass supra owner:sleep:

if it is in fact blow by on #1, it will be a long time before i feel the urge to tear it apart just for that, but since the compression test shows that the rings are healthy, im hoping it might be the uber small pcv hoses that were on there.

as IJ stated the spark plugs look fine. If anything 1/2 are a touch lean but nothing to bad.

btw when you read spark plugs. You are looking at the porcelain insulator along with the center conductor. The color of the insulator is what gives you the "reading". If you really want you can read the ground strap to see how the timing is ;)

and they say old techniques don't work... BAH!

Just more blowby then the PCV can pass, are the lines all stock diameter?

Been using Loctite Silver antiseize with no ill effects here.

hmm good to know, thought the metal in the silver would react with the aluminum.
