How much boost?

When your increasing your boost, majority of the time you
will want to reduce the plugs gap by a little to keep from blowing
the spark out.

Not that this really applies to his real question, but in case someone comes across in their search for stock gaps - 1987-1988 TRSM (which OP has 1988) page IG-8 states:

7MGE 1.1mm / .043 in
7MGTE .8mm .031 in

I am currently running at .28 but have not broken 6psi of boost yet (still in break-in), from what I understand, but double check for yourself, when you get into the mid-teens on boost need to get down to .26 and even is low as .24 when you start getting to that 20 psi point. But I assume every car and setup will be a little different...
