Has anyone ever had the problem on a single disc aftermarket clutch like the following?:

dropped the clutch to see what the engagement problem was..this is what I found:

With the car in gear and clutch pedal fully pressed, it would start moving when the rpm's were revved to 4,000 and beyond.

The nice thing is that Southbend Clutch already responded and is eager to fix the problem for FREE. So, SouthBend gets A+ for customer service...I never got this positive treatment from RPS.

I was using the w58 (aka mkiv NA) transmission and all RPS did was politely tell me that even though my clutch was under warranty, they would not warranty it :3d_frown: . IMO, RPS is a backyard company with bad quality product and ZERO support for their products. After that experience with RPS, I never bought anymore of their products and never will.

That's cool of South Bend to do that for you. I personally love my south bend clutch. Its in my w58 too. Best part about it is after 2 years, it still feels new.

anyone have the southbend 6 puck?

ive got it and you cant slip it for any amount of time which makes reversing a pain.

when you slip it too much it over heats or something and you can feel and hear a terrible vibration in the pedal.

other than that, it drives well with minimal chatter.

I have the southbend sprung 6 puck and i liked it. You just have to learn how to slip it. It's easier if your engagement point is closer to the floor.

I know what your referring to and I'm just letting you know there is a certain way to slip the clutch to have it perform more consistently. What works for me, is slipping on the descending rpm's after revving it and not half-clutching too much.

oh i see what youre saying. ive tried it every way i could think of, it still grinds after even little bit of slipping.

ive gotten used to it, its just that the other 6 pucks ive had never did this. oh well.
