There's a core plug at the back of the block. Though not likely, there is a big allen plug under the EGR cover that could be leaking, but would have to have a blown out egr cooler gasket as well to leak externally. Pressure test the cooling system if you are tring to find a cooling system leak (though I don't completely understand why you are so concerned about coolant leaking when your engine just caught fire from an oil leak).

Mostly because i'm pretty sure i know what caused the oil to leak, but i can't unravel the coolant mystery. The only thing i hate more than fixing little problems is not knowing what to fix. :/

Always carry at least one in my cars, had an Oil fire in my old Turbo Lancer that would have burnt the car to the ground if I hadn't..

I'm confused now. I had thought the oil came from my CPS, but now i'm not so sure. It looks like ( lets use our imaginations) the CPS had a hose directly on top of it, pointing almost straight up, and it shot a good spray of oil onto the inside of my hood, where it then dripped back down onto the block and exhaust manifold. WTH?!

It's weird because i normaly laugh at people when i see a fire extinguisher in their car, since it's always some 91 Civic hatch with the stock exhaust and a bodykit. I stopped comprehending that it could be useful for something other then giving me +5 HP

Friend of mine in the Corvette scene pulled all the insulation and carpet out of his track 'vette. Then he discovered that the foot wells got REALLY hot without all that material in there. So he weighed it, and when the total was 25+ pounds, he bought a fire extinguisher instead, claiming that he was still ahead by 20+ pounds, and probably safer than it was originally.

I really have no idea how valid his argument was - I do know that his 'vette never did spontaneously burst into flames, however I suspect that might have something to do with Murphy deciding to burn the cars without an extinguisher instead. (This is also the guy who pulled the ZR1 engine out and tossed it in his pickup truck, because it wasn't powerful enough for the 'vette. Crazy bastard.)

What about if your turbo seals are gone and when you went WOT boost went thru the seal pressurizing the crankcase and sending oil shootung thru your dipstick?
I know this has happened to at least 1 person.

My turbo is on it's way out, i've had death whine really bad recently. Apparently when i was at WOT i was dumping a good bit of smoke too, they said it was black, but i'm willing to bet it was blue. Can you remember who this happened to?

Bolted to the turbo like it should be, but the top is a little bent because of the way my IC piping is routed. What do you mean exactly?

This would explain the oil splatter on my hood, because the hose to my catch can is not hooked up. I had to re-think the placement because i was moving things around in the engine bay and i needed the space in my fender for IC piping (The more i think about it, that IC piping caused some major changes. lol). I have the port on my inlet plugged, but i left the hard line that comes from the valve covers open to vent pressure. It points directly between the CPS and the valve cover. Maybe the pressure at full boost blew through one of my turbo seals, and shot major oil through that hose? My turbo WAS on its way out, like i said... Okay, i think we have a solid explanation here, unless someone sees a flaw in this reasoning. How could i check for sure? If the seal blew will i be able to tell from looking at my turbine? Should i replace anything other than the spool just to be safe? This is one problem i have never heard much about, so i don't have any knowledge on the subject. Is there any way i can get into contact with the other member who had this happen? I would like to talk to him about how he handles the situation.

Next time don't open the hood without an extinguisher. You fed it a large volume of fresh air, where as it only had a little before.

Well i could:
A) Keep the hood closed and watch my car burn to the ground or
B) Open the hood at the risk of feeding the flames, but possibly saving as much as possible. I think i made the right choice.

So what fluid was the problem and where did you lose coolant?

Oil, if my educated guess is correct. My PS leak obviously needs to be adressed as well. I have yet to investigate the coolant properly, other than some poking around behind the motor. I guess i was looking for a big sign that said "LEAK" but alas...

Included are shots of what has convinced me that my problem is not a bad turbo, as formerly suggested, but rather terrible blow by. You can see the oil spray on my hood from the catch can hose that was unplugged. There is a noticable spray of oil directly above the port from my valve cover as well. The internals of the CPS seem okay, but the cover is done lol. My turbo seems normal, though i have some shaft play. There is no excessive oil in any of it, except for the oil lines of course. I pulled plugs 1-4, and they have only normal wear, though they do have a bit of oil on the threads. I have known that one or more of my valves are bad, because i have a tiny bit of smoke from my oil cap when running, and a faint smell of gas in the oil. I still haven't found that coolant leak, though... :/
