sound in clutch??

sup, this is my first post on here. but heres my question. whenever my car is idle with the clutch out, it makes a rattle type sound like somehtings loose. but when i push in the clutch it stops and sounds good. and sometimes when i start to move in first gear it makes a loud rubbing sound and doesnt feel comfortable on me. that doesnt happen a lot but it does ever once in a while. idk if its overworking the clutch or am i pulling out to slow. when i bought the car the guy said he had a fidanza alluminum flywheel and stage 2 clutch in it, but it normally does it in parking lots or traffic stop and go's. also one more thing. if my car is idling for some time after a drive it starts to smell like coolant around my car. idk if its cause the 7m is 15 years old or i have a leak somewhere, but my radiator does have a small hole but im replacing that soon anyways. if i can just get some help on this that be great. thnx

hey man my 1g has a stg 3 clutch in it and it does the same thing when you are in neutral with the clutch out it rattles but when you push it in it gets quiet. whenever they put my clutch in my car they didnt use the right throw out bearing so it rattles so far it hasn't hurt anything its just annoying. and the coolant you smell i would say is from the rad.

Stoke T- check your transmission gear oil level! same thing happened to me, and it turned out that all my gear oil had leaked out and stuck to the bottom of the car. (from the tailshaft seal) not a drop of it went on the ground, otherwise i'd have caught it.

less than a month later, my transmission blew. black smoke from fried gears... etc... came billowing into the CABIN of the car. it was NOT fun.

check your gear oil!

^^^ like he said, check the gearoil. 75-90wt will work fine.
The noise you describe sounds like it may be the input shaft bearing. When you hold the clutch pedal down, the trans shaft stops turning, noise gone.

When my transmission was going out, I could sit in my carport in neutral and work the clutch and the car would inch forward when I let off of the clutch IN NEUTRAL!!! It had about 4mm of thrust clearance inside the transmission....

I have a stage3 spec in mine (pure shit) and it didnt make any noise with the clutch pedal down. In gear, out of gear, whatever, no noise. But I think its most likely your throwout bearing.

hell if i know. haha i know when i had the clutch redone it uses the same kit as a na 7m but the throwout bearing would not fit.and i had to get a pressure plate from a toyota t100 truck do you think this would have an effect on its performance cuz ever since it has been changed the car hasn't pulled the same. with the clutch slipping like hell i could pull and acura rsx type -s by 3 lengths but with the new clutch it doesnt pull right.
