i say engine for something that is an engine and motor for something in say a power tool or washing machine etc. oh and ive never ever even seen a gun in my whole entire life lol and i know sod all about em. though i do know the previous owner of my supra went shooting around farms in england so my car has most likely carried guns of some sort in the past

In English I say "engine" most of the time (got used to it here on the forums), in German there is no such thing, only "motor" for both combustion and non-combustion engines/motors. The German equivalent to "engine" is usually only used for aircrafts, as in "jet engine" (just for the record, heh).

As for "motor" only being used for electric motors, the japanese show "Best Motoring" is not about sewing machines, is it? :D
