Is it kinda hook shaped, and have a little plate behind it that's bolted to the inside of the frame? Real close to where the cat. converter is?

ok. i was making sure that he wasnt talking about frame rail as in the flat spot that kinda leads up from the frame rail... goes alongside the header and engine...

i'm going to go take a peek at my coche...see whats up.

(coche=car...lol)

thats what i was GONNA post... but i was afraid i was confusing the frame-mounted hanger with my RX7... it must be the rear cat hanger right? on a pre89, uses rubber donuts to suspend the exhaust between the rear tranny mount and the frame rail?

the mounts are odd...

it depends on what tranny, year, and engine.

I've seen tons of donut mounts, a few with the ones on the frame too, and then the one that's on mine with the peg off the tranny mount for the other hanger piece...

i have a tranny and mount out of an 87 turbo and its hooked, for a rubber donut. my 91 had the peg w/ a flared tip on it to use the later style rubber mount, Just one though.

actually, now that i think about it, it WAS my rx7 that had a hook on the frame and on the tranny and the exhaust had a hook on both sides of the cat. lol...

i bought a hanger from Tubbie, but it wasnt what i had in mind... i ended up having to cut it and reweld to my aftermarket-flange. i think he sent me one from an NA, idk...

My 87(N/A) has a hook on the frame, and a hook on the trans. mount. The hanger for the stock cat has a hook on each side. It also has the nuts welded to it for connecting the cat to the cat back.

i have the donut mounts...those are a bitch to stretch on when the car isn't on a lift... might even be then. all i know is it took a LONG time to get one of mine on when i unbolted the exaust to do something...grrrr

the 89+'s aren't perfect, we still have donuts in the back part of the exhaust. I get lazy and unbolt the damn mounts instead of trying to stretch the donuts...

yeah, i acutally used thsoe donuts at the rear to hang the ends of my side exits. my RX7 used the same donuts too. i used a spare donut from the 87 parts car i had to hang the mid pipe too. they are easier to R&R than the later mounts though, sometimes.

flubyux - i cant help but ask... is the nose piece on your car a slightly different color/finish than the rest of the car or is it the reflection?

that offends me! how dare you ask!

actually, yess, its off a graphite colored 89 i used to have. the metal skeleton that was originally on my car was bent, and in turn, warped the plastic nose piece too. so i just switched the whole thing. im not worried about the mismatch... i kinda like the gray/black combo but the car needs paint anyways.
