something about mud and dirt on sports cars that does it for me, shows its driven, not hidden.
How isit that the General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard never got dirty yet drove on dirt tracks constantly kicking up roostertails of dirt?

Truth be told, Supra's and msucle cars have more in common than the canyon cutter imports people assosicate with us. Supra's are good handlers but they shine on open highway and flat out drag racing, and most people get them for those reasons.

A lot of cool people are into all kinds of cars, its the assholes that ruin it for most of us.

Lesson learned.......

It's great when stuff like that happens.
Last week I took the supie out for a spin, pulled into the gas station and had to waite for a spot at the pumps to open up. A preppy-well to-do guy in his late 40s or so hops into his new cute little VW SUV, So I start to pull into the open spot. As he is driving past me (on the drivers side), he stops and yells, "Hey is that an 87", I look up at him and he has this big grin on his face. I say, "ya, it's an 87". He then tells me he use to have one......in 87. So then he asks what I've done to it, so I hop out and pop the hood :evil2:

So after a little BSing about supras, he then tells me that over the years he has worked his way up through the sports cars and now owns a Ferrari, (I believed him, I don't think it was BS). But he said that out of all the cars he has had, he still feels the MKIII was one of his favorites. And he liked what I've done with mine.

So he gets back into his SUV and with the windows up on his truck I can hear him telling the other people with him, "I use to have one of those".

Yeah it made my day:icon_bigg

But then later on while I was driving it, the new $$$ electric cooling fan quits on me out in BFE, that washed the good day away......

:::UPDATE:::

He finally popped up on cs.com tonight, after he picked up this car:

b094_12.JPG

I didn't recognize him from his intro thread on cs.com, but he sent me an email about meeting a couple at Wal-Mart and I realized then who it was. He said the info I had given him (our phone number, my website, etc) he left in his Chevelle when he stored it for winter so wasn't sure if it was me or not.

As he's been more into Toyota pickups and domestic muscle, he's in unfamiliar territory with the Supra, so I'm sure I'll get to help him out with his new toy.

It's kinda crazy how things turn out, I swear I thought I'd never hear from him again, LOL

i remember being at the petshop once, and once i came back out, a 50yr old or guy comes out of a van and walks up..

"nice Supra, what year is it?"

"it's an 89" "wow, it's nice, i have an 87 hardtop...but it's automatic" *he could see my interior, since i had the targa off*

"yeah? is it turbo?"

"yeah, but the engine blew"

"headgasket?"

"Yeah, how'd you know?"

"aha, i drive a supra"

"yeah, you gotta watch out for that, i was actually driving the opposite direction, but i turned around, just to check it out."

"nice.."

he then gave me his number and asked if i ever needed any parts, not to hesititate..

name was Jim, so if you're on here, i lost your number, sorry!

*my memory's horrible, but im pretty sure it went 99% that way, maybe the dialogue's slightly different, but yeah*
