Some HG questions

Need some basic signs and symptoms of a leaking head gasket. Also, if it were leaking would you have white smoke as well as some steamy exhaust? No milky oil cap, just smokey and steamy upon first start up and check engine light comes on and no I haven't read the code yet, haven't been home long enough this week. Thnx

ti depends where its leaking. if its between the water jacket and a cylinder you would have a miss mayb and steam from exhaust also the coolant would poss pressurise and either blow it out the expansion tank or burst a hose would be another poss . Between oil and water way emulsifyed oil filler cap. I dont know about it making the engine light come on though

Well none the less, it appears I will be needing a HG at least. Next question. Are Toyota brand HG better if you're going stock or can someone suggest better other than metal? Are ARP bolts a must and what are you gearheads torquing them to now? 7MGE bone stock. Sorry to be a pain, but when I search for this I get thousands of threads dealing with HG's and don't feel like going through everyone of them

toyota hg will be fine for a na and tourque it to 72 ibs/ft
