He was in front of you. Explain to me how he would have FORCED you to hit him?

In Florida, if you rear end someone, IT DOES NOT MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES - you are at fault. At first I thought that was BS, but as time has gone on, I've come to see it's actually pretty damn intelligent.

YOU are responsible for your driving. No one else. If you rear end someone, you weren't paying proper attention for the driving conditions at hand, period.

CTSupra, in Florida, your vehicle is treated just like your home - if someone approaches your vehicle in a threatening manner, you are perfectly justified in using whatever means necessary to prevent harm to yourself.

i understand that 100%, and i see the logic behind it and understand how that works.
reason i got so pissed, was because the only reason he stopped was so he could get out of his truck to cuss at me, and i think he wanted to walk over and start a physical confrontation in the middle of a busy road.

he wouldn't have FORCED me to hit him, but thats what he wanted to happen.

anyway not looking to start an argument, just figured i'd tell my story.
around here theres plenty of people that can't drive, don't pay attention, or just flat out don't have the common sense needed to drive safely. its rediculous

I Highly Agree With SupraCentral. OneThing My Dad Has Always Though Me Is Protecting Yourself Comes First. Never Let A Man Take A First Chance On You. You Always Should Take The First Chance You Get To PROTECT Yourself, Not To Just Start A Fight. Think Of This, If He Had Done Something To Do An Injured You Horribly, But You Had The First Chance But Didn't Take It, Whose Fault Is That? He Will Be FineAnd Get Away While You Could Be Left There Fighting For Your Life

Hmm not to take anything from the comments made here but as a officer and having gone through the training I have, shooting someone in the chest with two rounds and/or putting one in the head will be only "justified" if there is a articulable threat. ie... same situation but add a bat, tire iron, knife or other tool that if used in such a manner could/would cause serious bodily harm or death. That would be the most probable time I would use my service weapon. Remember these are the times when people sue for anything. There are a "million" video phones out there and everyone with one thinks they are the new steven spielberg. :)
In a nut shell all I'm saying is that when using deadly force on a person be sure that you had no other alternative. Because the person you killed has family and they will first try to come at you in criminal court and if they can't get you via criminal court they will surely take your butt through civil court. And in civil court all they have to show is negligence on your part and they could win a settlement.
But hey we're all grown here and we all know how the world really works. Do what you think you should do but just be prepared to deal with the aftermath. That's just my .02 and to the guy that started this thread I think you showed good judgement. All that was bruised was your fender. Had you used deadly force you just would have a bruised a-hole from all your new cell block buddies. :) and I'm sure you don't want to chance that ;)

word. thats why i thought better of the situation. i don't want you all to get me wrong. i didn't even think about shooting him, it's not my right to take life. and i don't want to spend the rest of mine in jail.

Considering I've put my fist through a tempered drivers side window before (not to be confused with a windshield, big difference), I suspect a knife, with its focused point of impact would do quite nicely.

Really.

My experience is exactly the opposite.

Independent research also indicates differently:

I'm not specifically discussing "your situation", I'm refuting your statement about being able to get an unloaded gun out of a locked box and loading it quickly (30 seconds) as reasonable defensive posture. It's stupid, and in 99 out of 100 scenarios, it would likely get someone killed. I'm glad it worked out for you, for most people it doesn't.

close range seems to favor the .410 3" slug. i guess we must factor in that these are leaving a 2" barrel not a long gun but still.
look man it's fine, everyone left the situation unharmed. a little property damage i can live with, i'll have it fixed by next week.
i get where you're coming from though, he could have killed me. and believe me, next time i will handle the situation without flipping the bird. lesson learned
however i must admit that the slugs have no accuracy after about 30 feet out of that little barrel, the .45lc is damn accurate up to 100 feet

May as well point a finger and yell "BANG".....

Reminds me of:
A) the old john woo film hardboiled where he puts his finger to the thugs head and then when the thug goes to shoot him, he draws and caps him in the head.
B) In crank when statham is on the roof shooting at ppl with his finger.

and ill stop before i drift any further off topic.
