well i was peicing together a low 500 buildup and trying to save money on none moving items (IC, IC piping, manifolds ect) and while trying to find a reputable looking manifold i came across a few possible turbo vendors that i was wondering if anyone had heard anything about?

treadstoneperformance? they claim to sell a genuine turbonetics 62-1 turbo with a warranty that you gotta see to believe for under $900

advan_racing this was the one that first caught my attention. they sell a t4 manifold and ar60 p trimm turbo for $448

has anyone heard of these two? good or bad? that treadstone turbo is something i would be looking for if i knew for sure it was a turbonetics. and that advan one would be a really good deal if it was nice enough quality.

(im prolly still going to go with the DM t66 just wondering on these 2)

If it is too good to be true...........................It's on ebay. I've seen enough now to believe there are at least 1 or two on ebay that are misrepresenting their products. I'd spend the extra dough to have peace of mind.

You tend to get exactly what you pay for.

Cheap, reliable, fast - pick two.

For the criminally retarded, this means:

Cheap & reliable = not fast
Cheap & fast = not reliable
Reliable & fast = NOT CHEAP.

treadstone is a dealer of turbonetics turbos and thats exactly what they stock and sell. figure in you add 450$ or so for a ballbearing option w/ the oil restrictor included (turbonetics puts the restrictor fitting on for you even with a ballbearing turbo) and possibly add a little more if you want it coolant cooled. (i spent 1200$ or so for my ballbearing, and yes its a single ball bearing not a dual so you will see garrett who use dual ballbearing to be a little higher)

and yes i did go through treadstone but it was not on ebay i gave them a call. i would suggest ordering a turbo they have in stock not a special order one they take too long to receive.

if you go to a ebay specail turbo (the 250$ turbos) you'll end up spending more money in the end..

haha i never planned to go for the ebay special, my friend did that when he built his 240, ive never seen a turbo literally fly apart faster than that. i just saw these 2 placed offering (in treadstones case) a brand name turbo with a nice price. i still plan to go with driftmotion on this and get the t66, just wondered about these other 2.

while we are on the subject does anyone know if XSPower makes good intercoolers?

I ended up getting an eBay 7M manifold a few months back for my 60-1. It wasn't all that expensive and seemed like a good idea at the time. Turns out the welding looks like hell, and it's more or less been a PITA to deal with. Had I known better, I'd have opted for the Driftmotion package and come around the same price with better quality.

That's my .02

I will say this. Typical Garrett Turbos at COST price cost usually 400 dollars more then those "good" ebay turbos" ...

So your point is???

Can't tell if you are saying spend the extra money, because a "good ebay turbo" might or might not really be good. Or, If you mean, $400 is a lot of extra money for a name.

In my book, if you have a turbo that is tested and known competitive quality wise for $400 less than a Garrett, then of course, save the $400. But to buy something wrapped in a pretty cover from some unknown seller, spend the money on what you KNOW you can trust.

I have sold stock Supra parts on ebay for years, so I trusted ebay alot longer than most. I got burned by ebay twice. I bought an XTD clutch setup 1 week before The XTD clutch scam thread was born. It was a proven fake pressure plate. The disc did do well on my stockish car though. Then, I bought name brand PTE injectors from importblowoutsales the day before that scam thread started. I sent mine to be flow tested, and they were within spec to use, but my "550's" flowed about 615cc. of fuel.

My point is, don't believe everything you read on ebay. Even when it comes with the brand name, and nice packaging.

What happens when big name brands fail?? cause it happens.....My rule of thumbs is if you buy something off ebay(cheap turbos ,manifold) then you can't treat it like the name brand stuff cause your paying a fraction of the cost..for example..i bought a EVO3 knockoff turbo for my 4g63T mightymax, and it's great and i have 10k on that turbo..however i only run stock boost....I don't expect this turbo last running 20psi daily...why would I when i only paid a 1/8 of the cost...Same thing with ebay manifolds, there cheap, so you just can't slap them on and expect it to perform like a $1200 hks...Instead you put some extra bracing, flex joints, extra exhaust hangers....there you go $200 manifold that will last..(321 stainless is what i have)

Also, the guys that want to make 500-600+ shouldn't be looking on ebay anyway...I agree that if you want that much power it's better to foot the bill...I however do recommend ebay products for the tunner who wants maybe a touch above stock power, cause it has worked for me...just reseach, and give it a try....
