my bad. i was a little close to the answer. lol.

so IJ what bearings do you recommend for over 400whp?

Only counts in horseshoes ;)

My guys recommend NDC's as Clevite don't do a 7M bearing these days and just rebox the NDC's from Japan, I've used Fedral Mogul in the past with no failures.

This is a real pity as genuine Clevite 77's have some unique tech in the bearing shape that while it makes fitting a PITA is really useful to have, they are egg shaped in the ID and this promotes an Oil wedge to form when the crank is unloaded, think of a wave.

ACL don't do their race series and the normal ACL's don't stand up to the loads and fragment (saw a couple from a different engine at the Crank shop) King Bimetal splooge under extreme loads.

weird. the last Clevite's i used just a couple months ago said mahle group made in austrailia on the mains and mahle group made in japan on the rod bearings. whats up with that?

and where do you get NDC's? a google search didn't come up with much.

edit: now that i look at the old clevite rod shell it does say NDC, but the mains say GM T. i guess the rod and mains are sourced from different suppliers.

LOL maybe they were cheaper for Clevite to purchase for reboxxing!

Didn't know Mahle had any manufacturing here so I'm guessing licence built ACL's.

My crank shop supplied the NDC's so don't know where they got them sorry.

I just dropped my block off and he said they are a acl distributor or supplier w/e.
I asked how good they were and he replied with acl has a race series bearings.

I'll find out tomorrow what needs to be done.

I think I'm just gonna borrow some extra cash and go clevittes.
