Glad to see we got alot of people interested and it hasn't even been a day. If we get enough people for a group buy, albert will make a cad file to make them on the cnc lathe to have the cheapest price per set

No dingle dork, Why would a CAD file be made? too much work. Ill just write some G-code for the CNC, itll make my life easier, not cheaper. itll make the turn around rate a couple days instead of weeks.
Glad your incharge of the "r&d" and not the Machining. ;)

heres a stock one if anyone wanted to see, the mounting surface on the new bushing has been maximized to have the most clamping area. increased by almost .250"

Aluminum is much more expensive pound for pound than steel...been to the metal yard recently? The price is easily double, and to make bushings from solid stock, you'll be removing over half of your purchased aluminum in the form of lathe turnings.

SG

I just read this. You do realize steel is heavier?

Go get a quote from metal express. I did:

16'' of 1018 at 2-1/2'' is $45.30 (steel)
16'' of 6061 at 2-1/2'' is $37.85 (alum)

So again, why use steel?

Alum is:
cheaper
easier to cut
better Finish
lighter
doesnt rust.
shrinks easy
etc
etc

NICE!! Can you give a side by side picture? Definitely intrested in this, I would love to shore up my suspension & handling, and it cant be done with crappy bushings

I have driven min about 150km now and I must say it's load. But then again, I have no sounddampening left in my supra. I think I will try and put a piece of rubber between the bushings and car to see if it gets better.

I was expecting some sound, but this is a bit too loud.

Are you using theses alum bushings? A little noise is expected when going with solid bushings.

Okay, A little update:
The friend im doing this for (stevenr816), got back on the project and knocked out his rear subframe bushings. He is coming over today, and im gonna designed up rears. Looks like its gonna be a 2-peice Bushing. Not hard just more work.

Ill get photos up once I start working on the Rears.

Also Not to be off-topic but I also made myself some Alum solid motor mounts. couldnt see spending $60 bucks on them.....

yes. Sucky thing is the fronts use a 2.5'' bar stock so its cheap, the rears will use a 4'' bar stock cause the hat is huge....which will be more money =/

Yeah, made on a lathe. Manual lathe tho. After I get Everything made I may just write some code to put it on the CNC, which would make my life easier...So far the bushing overall is 3.5'' long (not inluding the top Hat... and a 4'' piece of Alum at 12'' long its about $50 bucks. So ill be able to get 3 per stick. So All I need is 2 sticks. So $100 bucks for just material. The top hats ill have to caculate tomorrow, May be cheaper to buy 4'' top hats at a desired height.
