I'm with motown, I have solid mounts with a stock 2j, and it vibrates a lil bit, but after you start moving, can't really even tell.

I've noticed most people that hate solid mounts have some major issues elsewhere that cause some serious vibration when the stock mounts aren't there to absorb it. I've ran solid mounts for years and my car is extremely smooth, much smoother than several stock mount cars I've ridden in. If everything on your car is balanced and good to go then you wont have any problems with them. Like others said its just a very slight vibration when at idle and maybe a little under high load-low rpm situations. If I didn't say I was running solid mounts and took you for a ride then you'd probably never notice the difference.

If 89+ why not just go with 98 Mk4 mounts. they are plenty strong, almost direct fit (have to grind off one locating pin - 10 minutes of work) and only feel slightly more harsh then stock. Or just go with TRD mk4 mounts for that extra stiffness. I don't think I would go solid in a street car, but I have not been in a solid mount supra.

Well, I don't mind them. Plus my solid mounts cost around 1/4 or so of the price of factory replacements let alone MK4 mounts. And they will never break.

Mk4 mounts are cheap, I got them from Curt at Elmhurst toyota for 57$ each. Its the 89+ fluid filled stock mounts that are ridiculously expensive.

Hate to bring up and old subject but.... have any of you running solid mounts broke anything else that could be caused by having solid mounts? aside from the vibration at idle is seams ok. i'm just worried about the aluminum brackets that connect the mounts to the block breaking.

After about 230 h.p. the mounts tear in half?? what's the H.P. cut off point before they tear?
Not doubting you, I'm just trying to learn.
Thanks!

For those running stock mounts, I suggest to just buy a BIC poly dampener. I've been pushing 430-475hp for a while now with no vibration and minimal engine movement on my original '87 engine mounts. They are also available for 89+

what about these ultra mounts. i looked in to them after being refered to them by some one on here. i think they look cool. a friend of mine is running them on his 300zx and he hasn't had any problems with them. the solid ones i got were just a quick fix to get me out of a bind. but if they are fine i may just leave them on there.
