I think it would suit me best to get a Soarer motor/tranny set since im putting it into my 89 240sx. But there doesnt seem to be much info on the swap. But I have maybe 2 diffrent pinout diagrams?? I was wondering if the ecu's are diffrent as far as the main components functioning correctly.

A soarer would be better since it has the extended shifter housing (assuming 5spd). As for the body pinouts they're plug and play with a SC300, so just get the SC300 EWD and have at it.

the 1JZ from the supra is limited to 117mph, so why would that be "screwing you?"

just get a SCD just like everyone does in the supras.

Jostar:: Yes we believe that the Soarer ECU's have a better timing map. they have the Timing Modifier unlike the JZA70 ECU's

I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) all true JDM production cars are speed limited to 115mph. I know this is at least true for the MZ12 Soarer, and have heard it's true for most other cars there. Sort of like the 280hp limit they had awhile back. This is why I see having a JDM ECU kind of pointless unless it is absolutely necessary. There are ways to trick the ECU so that it's not limited, but I couldn't tell you how.

Traffic speed advisory limitation: 180kmh

Gentlemen's output power agreement: 280chp

More loosely followed obviously then back when they were first made, however they were and are still in effect for the most part.

Dylan hit the nail on the head

Supra and Soarer and Aristo's were speed limited to 115-117 mph.

I thought I had said it first :icon_razz

yep, my jza70 is limited at 180kph, but $100 for an HKS SLD to fix that.
Not that you need to go that fast very often anyways.

I know one thing, the speed limiter is not a big deal. For example my 240sx there is a little yellow wire that controls the 118mph speed cut and all you do to remedy it is yup just cut that lil puppy and you're off. Then if yours is more complicated than snipping a little wire, buy a speed cut defenser and you're off.

I'm going to be doing my 1j swap soon, so should I get the soarer ECU because it has a better timing map and doesn't loose resisters like the Supra ECU? And if so, I should use the same harness?
