Hot shower will do it. Turn it up until it's uncomfortable, then stay until you start to feel queasy. Get out, dry off, and hit the sack, you won't be cold.
As to how we deal with it, well, our houses, clothes, vehicles, everything is built for it. A 'winter' jacket that you buy in Florida wouldn't last a minute here.

LOL! It hasnt been above 0 in over a week here... -21 last night, with -40ish wind chill where I live next to the lake. You get used to the cold and just avoid prolonged exposure.
Hot shower works great, or get a Carrhart and wear it to bed.

I have a friend vacationing in MN this week. He said it was so cold he left a soda in the car for three minutes and came back out and it was slushy already lol
