F1 engines were making nearly 1000hp per liter in 1986, and running over 5bar boost and they lasted more than 900 revolutions. Qualifying for Monza in 1986 the benetton B186 peaked at 5.5bar or around 1400hp not bad for a 1494cc 4 pot.
