I finished completely tearing the motor Apart. Took the block, Crank and Rods over to the most highly suggested person in town. Crank was no good. Cant be turned again... Rods were out of round, so I bought another crank, they are going to fix the rods, and I bought Weisco Forged Pistons. The block was in good shape. they are going to set everything up to specs and Install the Pistons. Spin Balance everything for me. A 2mm MHG is going on once I get it back in a few days. Im assuming that Breakin time again will be about 1500 miles so the rings will seat.

And thank you all very much for your Insight. Im going to see if I can get something better than 91 Octane. I have a Friend that works at the Airport. I think you all Know where Im getting too.

500 is enough to break it in.

mmm wiseco's ;)

You can choose either less compression via a thicker gasket or less boost if you can't readily find better gas.
(no use building a car you can't get fuel for closeby)

That is why Im going with a 2MM MHG. Lower compression than what I had before that is for sure. The Turbo setup that Im going with will give me everything the 57 Trim did and then some at a lower boost level. So I should be good on both sides.

Ummm if your new Turbo is stuffing more in to give the same power at lower boost it's still going to be at the same cylinder pressure and this is what causes detonation.

xxhp = xxcylinder pressure only saving grace of the bigger turbo is it won't heat the intake charge as much as it's moving more volume at a lower pressure.

I think Im going to set things up just to beat the other guy. Try things out safely first and go from there. We will see once I get everything back and start putting things back together.

A bit off topic, but you guys say that the best pup gas you can get is 91 Ocatane, here in Sweden(and most of europe as far as I know) the "worst" pump gas you can get is 95 Octane and the best is 99 Octane(guess which one I use:evil2: ).
Are there different ways to measure Octane or what?

Before unleaded came out in the uk, we used to have 2star 3star 4star and 5 star fuel which were just different octane ratings. I think they decided to just stick with 2 grades when they went unleaded 95 which is normal unleaded and 97 - 99 which is super unleaded. I think they keep all the different grades in the US because some cars which are under powered only need 87 while performance cars need the 93/94.

In the US, octane is an average of two different values quoted as (R+M)/2. The "R" value is Research Octane Number (RON); determined with a test engine running at a low speed of 600 rpm. The "M" value is the Motor Octane Number (MON); determined with a test engine running at a higher speed of 900 rpm. For example, a gasoline has an RON of 98 and a MON of 90, then the posted octane number would be the average of the two values or 94.
