My car was at the tranny shop getting ready to get a stg2 clutch and a fidanza flywheel... then, this morning I get a call from the shop asking me to return their call... I was thinkin oh hell yeah they got to that quick, but no... he was calling to tell me that he had gotten there at 6:30 and my drivers side window had bee broken out and the only thing that he could see that was missing was my cd players faceplate... other things that could have been stolen were my turbo timer, avc-r and my radar detector... damn mother fuckers breakin into people's cars... this is the second time this has happened... I need an alarm... sometimes I wonder if it's because people are just jealous of a nicer looking car...

Thanx,
Patrick

oh yeah I will also be needing a driver's side window...

thats part of the reason I do all my own work, I donty trust other people with anything I have put so much money into, the closest I've gotten to leaving my car in the care oh other people was when I left it in the holding lot at the place I work when I was working on it, and that was guarded by a ten-foot fence with sheet metal over it, and razor wire on the top, and it had a motion-sensor alarm in the lot itself.

this is the kind of shit that I'm getting used to... everytime I fix my car something else happens and I can't drive it... I've owned the car since jan, and since then I've put a new clutch on, rebuilt the motor, then shortly after that I put another clutch because the other one wouldn't handle the hp, then someone totalled it but just before that a crazy X broke out my drivers side window for the first time, then my tranny went out(so new tranny and clutch again), then I put a new head, turbo, intake and injectors, now my clutch went out again b\c of the hp/tq, now while getting ready to get a higher end clutch someone breaks my window and steals my cd player and my radar detector... this has been a living experience if you ask me... learned alot about cars in soo many different ways with this car...

Same thing happened to me this spring when I was having my tranny put in. Even better yet, it happened at the dealership I work at. I lost my cd player, turbo timer, amp, and they broke my window and scratched up the side. My only advice to everyone, is don't be naive about it. 95% of the time it is an inside job. These piece of s@&*t kids these places hire scope out the cars and do it themselves or call a buddy to do it. I'm really surprised more people don't set up traps for these punks and make some major beat downs! :slap:

why didn't you take your radar eletronics that can be unpluged and taken with you and even cdface plate out of the car if it was going to be sitting for a long time in an area where there aren't people at night?

most my friends with radars will put them under the seat or glove box just to keep it out of view.. i dunno just a suggestion..

i agree, when doing any kind of work that will require to leave your vehicle in an attended area, for an alloted time, its always a good idea to remove any thing of value that can be removed.

im not saying your in the wrong, but at the same time next time remove everything possible, just so it doesnt happen to you agaiin, cuz i hate the feeling ive been thru this, turbo timer cd player radar dector my girls damn carebear and abunch of crap.

so just prepare next time.

sorry to hear and i hope thos monkeys receive the same unfair treatment that you got from them. be well

ps you dont need a fancy alarm sytem that cost 342345234 dollars, only get whats essential, because ou dont wanna spend moeny on stuff tha wont even work.

there are a couple of low cost systems out there, make shure you get one that detects any kind of foriend and foreced entry IE broken windows no key entry etc.

more reason to never leave anything in your car worth taking if you have to leave it overnight. but your right, you can't trust anyone,if it aint the tow truck driver,it'll be the one of the mechanics at the shop or the owner. not saying that they are all thieves, but the ones who are, know who they are.

Actually I had just gotten done detailing the car and took my avcr out and my radar dectector was taken down and in the console with the cd faceplate... and those mother f$%kers broke in anyways... well I guess it could have been a lot worse... soon I'll have her back on the road where she belongs... and then under a cover everynight...EVERY night...

I dunno if this helps any, but my old man owns an Amoco in the town I live, with a two stall garage. This is in Minnesota so I'm not sure if it applys where you are, but his insurance covers all the vehicles in the lot. So say your car was parked at his shop and got broken into, he claims it to his insurance and they pay. Repair shops have real high insurance rates, and thats why. You should talk to the people there, and see what they can do. It has happened to him a few times, and thats what the shops insurance is for. Just a suggestion

Yeah, I think the repair shop should pay because it was on their property and they were responsible for your car. Could have been one of the employees who broke into it after they had seen what you had inside.

I read this year back but a alarm technician at a big automotive electronics shop used to install the car alarms for thier customers and he would code a remote for himself. When the customers filled in the paperwork he would find out their adddress and about 2 weeks later have friends steal the customers car.
This happened alot and the cops traced it back to him. So you can never trust repair shops unless you know them really well.

Cheers,
Roy
