So I've come to a conclusion...

After many poor experiences with the company, I've found that Mitsubishi is probably the worst auto manufacturer I've had experience with.. I have worked on a lot of late model foreign automobiles and I am not at all impressed with them. My wife's 2003 Lancer OZ has had more creeks, bumps, pings, rattles and thuds than my 93 Camry, my 94 Camry or any of my numerous (5) Supras ever had combined. Her Lancer was purchased new.. at about 20k it all started to go down hill. Of course the dealership didn't help the situation at all. I've decided to write a formal letter of complaint to Mitsubishi Motors. I know it won't make any difference for anyone, but at least I'll feel better knowing that someone (might) read my letter.

Basically my trigger for this rant was the fact that, once again, the wife came home and said the car has another creek in it. So I drove it, sure enough driver's rear was creaking bad. Turns out there were two large bolts at the spindle where one lateral arm and the upper control arm connect. They were both severely corroded and it was a HUGE pain in the ass getting them out. So I cleaned them up on the bench grinder (wire wheel) and coated them with anti-seize and re-installed. That's the third time I've had to do something like this.

Well, thanks to anyone who actually read this pointless rant. Comments are welcome. I realize there are many Mitsubishi lovers out there, so don't take this criticism personally, I just have had absolutely NO luck whatsoever with Mitsubishi or any of its affiliates. And their engineers need shot. :bigun2:

Thanks again!

Moved to the "other cars" forum since it's about "other cars". Well that and Theresa will likely have a psychotic episode if she sees this in the main OT area... ;)

IDK if it was just an utter pile of crap or just a poorly maintained car (i think the latter), but my friend had a DSM for just 2 weeks. Started off with a serp belt that snapped, had to be towed home the first day. Lots of blowby because even after replacing his PCV valve, his dipstick would always want to come flying back out when it was running. Rear diff whined like crazy and the turbo oil seals were leaking leaving a pond in his I/C piping. Car was finished when it seized up on the highway. Found out that it was a leaking oil filter. He now hates DSMs with a passion.

Other ones, done right are just crazy fast and haul a** all day. that's only if done properly.

Thanks for the DSM posters BTW, im sure it shall make my friend feel better about ditching his car ;)

That sucks, man. :( Next time you might want to try some Marine Grease. It repels water much better, and really sticks in place (as it's meant for water-soaked applications).

Myself and my friend like to call it Seldom-Seize, and that's for good reason. ;)

Lol.. Nice.. That's a good call on marine grease, I never thought of that. I've still got to track down that last little creak before we go on vacation next week. So I'll deff. pick some up on my way home from work today.
