So about a week ago I started my car to go to work, it started and I let it warm up for about five min. Next drove to work everything was fine, parked it and shut it off. Next after work was done I went to start it and bammm wouldnt start, it would crank but wouldnt start. I checked my battery, spark, fuel, starter...... and cables/vaccume hoses. And it all checked out. So then I spent 80 bucks to tow my car to work (toyota) and then got it written up and I was going to have a friend look at it. So the next day I get a phone call, "cory I just walked out to your car and it started right up." But for two days it wouldnt start for me? I think it might be my ignitor?? Any ideas? But now for about a week it runs fine....?

I had the same problem. Was a fucking nuisance.

I would go to the mall and other places it wouldnt start. The worst time it happened was in the envening and it was pouring down really hard. I was all wet drying to fix my supra in the rain.

I had to tow the car 4 times on different occasions.

I got fed up and connected a wire to the signal wire that goes to the starter. I connected this to the switch under my dash. Everytime it wouldnt start I used the switch.

I think it had something to do with the factory alarm. I unplugged the factory alarm harness and there was water. I have not idea how it got there but I cleaned and dried it.

The problem was solved.

Roy

Same problem here too; it would seemingly start at random, but mostly just sat there and cranked.
Turns out 2 of my injector clips were loose.
My car sat for 3 days while I tried to figure it out..... and everything checked out fine. Finally pushed the clips back into the socket, and the car started fine.

I fought with this very same issue with My car for months. It was none of the above responces. Strangly enough my car was flooding. Every once in a while when it would do this if I immediately put the pedal to the floor while cranking I could get it to fire. But if I failed that attempt then it wouldnt start until the next day. I discovered that if I unplugged a couple of my injectors and cranked it would fire after a few turns and then I just plugged the injectors back in.

I was never able to solve this problem but it has since not returned since I did whole rebuild. It was possibly due to leaky injectors, a bad pump relay or a defective injector resistor. All of those parts were replaced during my build.

next time your car does it, you could try my "quick fix" and see if you have a sililiar issue.

If it's cranking, but not starting, then it's not in the factory alarm. Once the factory alarm trips and you try to turn it over, it will do squat.

Thats right....I'd say check your cps and throttle postion sensor.

Years back I had a faulty tps and my car would crank but not start.
Then I opened the throttle and it started. I changed the tps and it started without me having to open the throttle.

I think my bronco has a bad tps then too, because sometimes I have to hit the gas (usually in the heat of day or when it gets driven) to start it, but in mornings it always starts right up.

Question: Can a bad TPS cause you to not idle whatsoever? If I hold the gas it runs fine, but the second i completely let off, it just dies instantly.
