is the itching of the skin allergy related? Here in "ozzie land" we have the worst cases of hayfever.I get itchy skin and suffer bad hayfever.I use a ointment/creme (whats the diff??) called "Elocon" ointment.I also pop some antihistamine tablets too and they helps calm it down.Mine is the opposite to you guys,When its hot then i sweat and then it itches.Wish it would snow here rather than boiling hot summer heat.

well, for me it is not an allergy. it is neurodermatitis, a chronic skin disease... it usually breaks out in winter cos of all the heaters and the cold and it just kills my skin. but it can be there all year.

in my case, the itching can also be triggered by allergies. for example after toying around with my mother's dog for a while, my palms get very itchy. ew. but fortunately I don't have hayfever.
sweat is also causing it, but I usually don't sweat much even when it's quite hot. but then again it doesn't get very hot over here; just a tad over 30°C from time to time.

oh, and I too hate winter. just for the records :D
