@ autozone ! I worked at O' Reillys for 10 months and really liked it until I got fed up with having to be a translator for stupid people (was in ethnic part of town).

And I REALLY miss the discounts + access to parts.. and randomly today I got a call from them after I applied 2 months ago. I already have a morning job workin at Applebees makin decent money ($8.50/hour), so this will be a 2nd job, but I'm more happy about it because of my upcoming NA-T build.

Also had a few questions, so this thread isnt worthless.

Lex AFM + 550's + completely normal turbo rebuild (my GE rebuilt w/ the GTE kit) + 57 trim CT26 = ... no tuning? + stock ct 26 = no tuning? Would it run well enough to not have to have a SAFC or would I still need one?

And when I do the rebuild, using a turbo kit for the lower compression pistons, etc, wouldnt that make my car the exact same as a GTE besides the oil squirters?

Also, can a 6m crank be balanced enough to be as smooth as a 7m?

Upgrade? Hell nah, just discounted parts, and the smaller ones can get pocketed :)

Plus I had a charge account at O Reillys... hopefully the same at autozone.

There are alot of subtle differences between the GTE and the GE. 2 knock sensors in different locations than the GE's one, turbo oil return, oil squirters, thermostat neck, oil cooler return, cam shafts, oil pump, etc.

Knock sensors... where? I was under the impression that the block and heads were the same. IJ sent me a picture showing spots on the block for oil pressure and return for the turbos. I can get a dif therm neck, etc. And i'll def get a new GTE oil pump, and i already know that works in a GE.

And I'm keeping my N/A cams neway :p

minimum is 5.15 an hour.

Remember though, cost of living here is probably half of what yours is lol.

GTE's knock sensors are: #1 between cyls 1 and 2, #2 between cyls 5 and 6. The GE's is in the center of the block. The GE block has spots where the GTE knock sensors would go but they are not drilled and tapped. The oil return for the turbo is not drilled and tapped either. These aren't huge issues, but you did ask "wouldnt that make my car the exact same as a GTE besides the oil squirters?" and the answer is quite simply "no". ;)

aah, so a bit of shop work would be in order? cuz i dont trust myself to do it correctly :p.

And i figured i'd have to do the return for the turbo. I dont need to tap my oil pan at all though do I? Both the pressure and return go to the block right?

Yeah, you either tap the pan OR the block. Personally, I'd rather do the block. I can't recall where the feed comes from at the moment.

I think some people get a little creative with the knock sensors and rewire to get rid of one, but again, I'd rather do it right and use both. The GTE has two for a reason.

The knock sensor locations I would have a shop take care of. The oil return I'm pretty sure I could manage myself.

Well if thats true, then that will definately be the route I'm takin :)

Hopefully this guy goes through on sponsering/donating $1200 to me, and that will get my buildup started, and by the time i run outta that money i'll have a few paychecks.

Once its rebuilt and back in then i'll sell my bronco for $2500 and get a bunch of bolt ons :D

Now for a general question. Should I go stock first? Or go 550's + Lex AFM + 57 trim first?

Yes I'm a 86.5. I know I have the 6m crank, and I've heard it revs quicker, just not as smoothly as the 7m, so I plan on getting everything fully balanced so I have the best of both worlds.

And Loki, 1 bed 1 bath for 900 a month? Jesus that gets me a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom here.

We were renting a pretty nice house for 1100 a month, and it was 3 bed, 2 1/2 bath, 2 stall garage, split level, driveway + basketball hoop, porch on back... yea.

My uncle had a Million dollar house in Cali... it was "normal"... he moved to connecticut, and now he has a MANSION. Same price too.

Yep. lol

Congrats on the new job man, that's pretty cool. Have fun with the discounts, but be careful with the "5-finger" or "pocket" discounts I believe you were referring to earlier... Probably not too wise to publish that (even if you're joking)...

As for your cost of livings... I envy the both of you... There may be a couple studio apartments around here for $900/mo, but those would be pretty old / ghetto... 1brs start around $1,100/mo for a small, basic unit and RAPIDLY increase depending on size, accommodations and location... I'm looking for a damned townhouse right now and I can't find anything even DECENT for less than $350K... Single family homes START at $550K+...

$1,000,000 around here gets you bullshit like this...

http://www.weichert.com/real_estate/va/fairfax/mclean/single_family/11636745/mls_fx6381701.aspx

Less than 1/2 acre for the first one, just over 1/2 acre for the second... Decent houses, but CERTAINLY not worth $1M (to me at least)...

Hell, we even have $2,000,000 TOWNHOUSES... Should THIS be $1.5M???

http://www.weichert.com/real_estate/va/fairfax/mclean/townhouse/11651901/mls_fx6383169.aspx

Really Sux... I wanna move, but my profession limits me...

There are other cities / suburbs that are worse yet than mine...

Lol I was kiddin about stealing stuff. The only stuff small enough to steal anyway is cheap and would be smarter to just buy it.

But yea, a million dollar home here would be like WOW. Like 4 acres + HUGE house.
