USAA told me that I have to have it appraised by one of their trusted companies or else it will only net the listed blue book value is wrecked. They gave me this company as a reference. They stopped by today at work and looked the Supra over and gave an initial value of $24,600 :sarcasm:.

I have a lot more than that in it, but it looks like the value on MK3's are on the incline. I'll throw the printed report up when I get it (he said in about two weeks).

Mark - USAA will insure it? I talked to them and they directed me to Progressive for "Classic/Collectible" insurance...that type insurance limits how much and where you can drive the car. The upside is in AZ, it exempts Classic/Collectible from emissions.

Also, dude said that there should be a 15-20% increase in value (of all cars, not just mine) when they hit the antique status, 25 years.

Not sure if they will or not just yet, they had to get the value of the car first. When I talked to the agent today, he said they had a department that *might*, but no, not their standard auto line of insurance....

Wow, damn. Thats nice to hear! I wonder how much itll cost you though. It'll obviously be worth it, but probably a big chunk of cash at the same time.

I'm guessing that its getting to the point that it is being more recognized as an older classic to be appreciated than some old pos jap crap

ive got full coverage on mine through progressive but theyve never inspected the car to determine its value. i did get addition coverage for modifications up to $6000 even though ive spent around $20000. my car isnt registered as a classic tho. ive got to look into this

My full collision liability coverage is through allstate in FL. Are you saying that I have to buy special insurance to cover any value that the car might have over the blue book / Kelly crap dealer, insurance sham price in the book?

That's exactly what he's saying...correctly too. That is if you want to get above what "market valve" for the car is if it's totaled.

Here in Florida, you've also got the option if your car is totaled, that they replace it with an equivalent vehicle.

Seriously, they have to make you happy, not the other way around.

Mark,

Ive been thinking about adding full coverage to my car. Not that mine supra is anywhere near yours, but I've been in a wreck with it once before and wish I had full coverage to fix the car.

I'm going to call my insurance company today and tell them that Aaron worked on mine as well...........:biglaugh:
