Ya Im totally thinking about changing doctors. As for the scar, well once this heals I'll have 3. Already had both hernias operated on.
Glad your okay and didn't lose the jewels. I had to scroll down to see if it was a joke. Had a wierd bite that was simiar, 'cept the aniti's did thier thing.
reminds me of my brown recluse bite. but you are way to far north for them.... maybe a wolf spider bite, similar but not as bad. suprised that the first doc didnt lance that thing open before giving antibiotics

Im very certian that this started off as an ingrown hair. Sunday night there was definatly no bites of anykind. I tried to pop a white head, and the next couple days that spot just got worse, then it started swelling like mad. In all fairness the lump didnt look like it did in the picture when I first saw the doc. It wasnt sticking out as far, mind you it was sticking out much further than normal and it was turning red and was just aslong and wide as it is in the picture. Pretty much the same size just less pressure in there. He said he didnt want to lance it just yet, but everyone who had seen it thought that he should.

I took it thursday night and thats pretty much exactly how it looked Friday when the Doc looked at it for a second time and when the surgeon decided to operate friday afternoon. Mario, those things are nasty. One of my biggest worries about the lump on Wednesday was that there was something alive and squirming around underneath my skin. Im really glad there wasnt
Honestly sounds like when you tried to pop it, you ruptured it internally rather than at the skin. Infections spread rapidly when they have no place to go.
It's Kaltostat, and yes, it's a fibrous wound packing that contains sodium and calcium salts. It's really built to draw out exudate from a wound and store it in the fiber/gel.

You really don't want to squeeze or compress a boil or any other encapsulated infection. Like SC said you most likely ruptured that boil and spread the infection inward. Did your Dr tell you to take the antibiotics and use warm Epsom salt compresses on the boil? No.....! Probably not, give the pt a pill and send them on there way. The warm compresses of Epsom salt would of drawn out the infection to a head and it would of just oozed out lake toothpaste. Been there done that.

if it were a bite it would not have improved with antibiotics. although it would not even show for a few days if it was. i didn't know i had been bitten till i was in the shower a few days later, i had a itch that woulden't stop on my ass, so i scratched it... and it popped! i had a abscess the size of a quarter by time the doc stopped cutting. i now have a crater where it was about 1/2" deep.
packing the wound......fun times!anic:

The doctor told me to warm press for 20minutes with a cloth soaked with hot water, then to try to get it to head and release the puss. I took it one step further and had 2 epsom salt baths (45 mins each) then warm pressed for 40 minutes before trying. This has been on if the biggest lessons Ive learned in a long time, everyday I find out something different. You guys have actually been a big help, so thank you everyone. I knew that making a post on the subject here in OT would proove to be quite benifical to my knowledge on the subject.

oh ok I see what you meant. This thing definatly didnt improve with the antibiotics. Steady on the getting worse front. I think I could probably store enough quarters in my hole to buy a couple big mac meals. Im ok with the packing of the wound, I dont exactly like it. But the day old stuff coming out, well its a good thing Im not armed
