LOL. ^Agreed. At times that I am brushed upon the thought that my car is heavy...I just think, "MKIV, MKIV, MKIV"...and then my car seems light again. 
So i weighed my car today...

i took my 89 turbo targa with leather interior 5 spd. weighed in at 3520 with me in it and a 3/4 tank of gas. ive removed ALL the a/c components, ALL the p/s. (same rack though) cruise control... took out the spare tire but i put a sub in its place so thats not much difference haha..

I found that my car had all the sound deadening removed before I got it. I really didn't notice much of a difference in outside noise level, can hear the radio just fine. Don't know how it would be comparable to a mkIII however.

At times i think our mkIII's are heavier than the MKIV. Am i wrong?:icon_conf
I was always under the impression the heaviest mkIV was about 3500lbs, but I'm probably wrong, lol

i already have one of the lightest rims...my next goal:

My car weighed in around 3480 I believe without me,spare, or a backseat in it. I don't plan on taking much more out, I would attack those heavy as hell doors and maybe a CF hood if i had the money.
