To get farther off topic for a sec, One problem I see with the "city life" is that most people dont take the time to get to know the person living next door to them, if people took some time to get to know their neighbors a little, problems like the one you described above would not happen as much imo..

Here in the sticks, no one locks anything up, (except me lol,) like the house, cars and shop, but everyone in town here knows one another, the neighbors call us if something odd is happening, just to see whats up and say hello, we have thier home and work phone #'s and they have ours.. we watch each others back's and this makes for a very nice community.. its kind of old school, but it works..

^ yup, my grand parents live in a place like that. its like"hey did you hear billy got killed?"
"naw, really? did they find the killer?"
"yeah!"
"well, who was it?"
"it was steve, the barbers kid!"
"GASP!"
"I KNOW!!"

and the bums probly werent trying to steal the car, it's in the POS stage right now, so the only thing worth any money in there is my harness. they were probly just lookin for a warm place to sleep.(hell, they probly thought it was abandoned). they always try to sleep in the vehicles we put in the holding lot at my job.

I'm from Santa Cruz CA, The bum capital of the world... Why is it the capital? Because it's one of the few places in the country were panhandling is legal. You can do whatever you want, as long as your at least 10 feet away from a door.

I tell em to get a job. McDonalds is always hiring. It a better job than the one they have now(none)

Panhandlers make 20-30 dollars per hour. And I can guaruntee that they don't pay taxes on that. Would you give up sitting on a corner for that much money to go work for $7/hr? I saw a guy one time that had a sign that said something about wanting money to get a burger. So I walked two blocks to a burger king, and bought the guy a whopper. The guy looked at me funny as I handed it to him and then threw the burger at me as I walked away. These people are out there because they make a lot of money doing it.
