well i was doing my routine* duties and i was pushing some totes when i felt like a slight pinch on my right shoulder and then some slight pain, moved it some more and felt more paint and then it felt warm. It doesnt hurt that much but theres pain...not sure if i pulled something or stressed a muscle, i wasnt doing anything that should cause such a thing. I have hurt the shoulder before when i rolled over it under my car, and when i worked out i worked it a good amount. I filled a complaint with my manager just incase it gets worse.

Reason why im posting is because #1 im bored and #2 hoping its nothing big and/or would ike ur input.

thanks,
-emp.

You're smart to have told your boss. This would fall under "occupational injury"...there should be provisions at your work to pay for you to see a doctor at no cost to you. I would do so ;)

That's a very good idea ;)

Make sure the doctor knows it happened at work. There is paperwork to fill out for an occupational injury...do it. Also check to see if there are provisions for you to get paid if you have to take time off. If it's a torn ligament or tendon, you will need time off to get it fixed.

Doesn't matter. He hurt it AGAIN doing something WORK RELATED. I'm guessing you don't have insurance by that post. The insurance will pay that, not you. And if you have paid for something like that, and you do have insurance, then you've been had. Hes not trying to get money out of this. He just wants to go to the doctor and have him check it out.

Yeah...and if employers took care of their people instead of looking at them as an expense entry on the income statement, then they might just have less problems. There is two sides to that coin you know. Empra hurt himself at work...and it might be serious. I'm way more concerned with him vs what it might cost the company or insurance.

Where to start, oh my? Generally that would be looked at on a balance sheet, not an income statement. I agree with you on employee health, but for stupid things like splinters, cuts and other small bullshit the system is screwed up. An employer gets penalized nearly as badly as if he had a limb amputated.

Last time I looked, labor expense is an income statement entry...as is insurance and medical expense.
Isn't the balance sheet: Assets = Liabilities + Owners Equity ;)

Course that just might be the problem...many employers look at the people that work in the business as liabilities. They actually cause an adversely relationship by nickel & diming their people to death. Then they wonder why an employee takes advantage of the system. I call it "what goes around, comes around".

In Empera's case, this was not a "splinter". A torn rotator cuff, ligament, or tendon is something you want looked at...and it happened on the job. It would be just as unfair for him to bear the brunt of that kind of expense or the lost wages that will result. However, there are a lot of companies out there that are hell-bent to minimize expenses and will make it as difficult as possible to make a valid occupational claim. A smart individual will protect one's self and exercise the benefits required by law. What I told him was focused on protecting himself, not how to screw his employer.

I Honestly agree, but the system is really screwed up. I think more employer's are scared of recording it on the OSHA 300 log than anything else. They're not worried about paying the benefit, they're worried about coming under OSHA scrutiny. Common sense is NOT present in the system.

That sucks man. When I read the first post that was what came to mind. If they scope it, don't keep it in that sling for the 6 months or whatever they tell you. Keep it limber and you wont have as many range of motion issues down the road.

Obviously you wouldn't want to lift weights w/ it or anything, just don't keep it across your chest.
