So i buy a 1j drop it in, n it doesnt start.. 2 weeks later we find that it was timing that was off horribly, then the car doesnt wanna boost, from what i hear its the knock sensors so i found 2 about 2 days back not installed yet, I got EXACTLY 82 miles to a full tank with NO boost... my oil pressure is below the first mark on the factory gauge when im about 3k rpm, there is a Misfire, brand new oil n plugs, coils were checked so the miss remains unknown... Now my twins jus took a crap on me while producing no boost o_o really guys, this 1j is about to get a big chunk of my mind...

um.

you shouldn't drive until the car is running correctly.

Did you do a compression check, did you inspect the turbo's before putting them in? THey are prone to failing.

I don't know if you want help or just want to rant.

I am asking for help, this is my first J engine car and its most definitely not proving itself worthy, turbos were in good condition from what i saw compression is fine on the motor, y would it be so bad on gas, y would it have such low oil pressure, y would the twins jus crap out on me, this 1j has 59k miles = /

Just because the mileage is low doesn't mean anything. Those turbos could very well be over 17 years old and can and most likely will fail due to age. I would check to see your injectors about your terrible gas mileage. It sounds like they are just stuck open.

This is in my mk3, beatuiful car man.. but never expected that AFTER going 1J all this shit would happen...

did you try pulling any check engine codes?

stock turbo's are Always going to blow going single should be one of the top things on you list.

were you able to fix the knock sensors? if not thats what is putting your car into limp mode and messing everything up.

Wouldn't count on it mate. Engine sellers tend to pull the quoted mileage completely out of their ass and there is no way to properly verity it.

Sounds like you picked a short straw and got an engine that got it's tits ragged off of it in Japan. Luck of the draw I guess.

Good Luck getting it sorted though.

Hmmm that seems like a pretty big difference in the compression numbers to me

From 200 to 155? Was the engine warmed up? Did you try to add a tiny bit of oil too and see how it affects your numbers?

Don't know much about the 1J's... but sounds like your oil pressure sender might be faulty? I dunno your description is not very specific

Remember, just because it's a J engine doesn't mean it's indestructible... With an unknown condition engine you are always taking inherent risks!

Good luck though ;)

I agree that compression number was extremely weird, It was A dry test so no oil was added.. That sender issue was brought up.. but its just a thought... either way im going to single the car now so ill c whats going on when the motors out...

Get those knock sensors wired up and go single. That'll solve most of your problems. Terrible gas mileage due to the not having knock sensors. Like someone said earlier in this thread, it puts the car into limp mode. Too bad about those stock twins. I've seen some last for years and some that go out the first time boosting on a new swap.
