It's funny that I've seen so many people mention that they'd rather be in HI than where they are. Don't be fooled-it's much less than most perceive it to be. I've lived there-not by choice for over 3 years. I think I know what I'm talking about.
Less supremacists? HAH! You've never seen so many people hate everyone that they think isn't from HI. Americans from any state but HI, which is much like another country, are more or less unwelcome there.
I have agreed with many of my friends that are in HI for similar circumstances that I am that for most people, a short vacation to HI may be enjoyable. Much beyond that, though, you start to learn too much about that place, and realize how very small of an island it is that you're "trapped" on.
You can easily spend much less money on a vacation and go some place that is much nicer-within the lower 48.
There are plenty of sharks along much of the east and west coast of America to play with.
