Dave: No surprises there Toyota's metallurgy has always been great, my point is unless you buy a new set from Toyota you're dealing with 15+ year old rods with an unknown history so it becomes a ? mark on a high hp build.

yeah thats true. i know the history of mine since it was a brand new short block from toyota in shrink wrap :)

buying a supra these days i wouldnt even think of doing a high hp build without taking everything apart for inspection. unless i had another motor ready to go in its place.

Dave: I have a quiet chuckle at some of the resident "experts" that talk about how easy it is to make Xxxrwhp from a 7M then think back to the Group A days and how much time and effort went into the development and how meticulous the engine builds were ;)

NOT a 7M but here's a BBC one I prepared earlier ;)

this is what i wanted a good debate on this topic. I will continue to beat the hell out of this engine everyday so far im at 10k will tear down soon for inspection.
