hey ya'll
Out today taking my car for it's first decent run and while stuck in traffic (pretty much not moving for about 10mins) the temp spiked up one notch, turn on heater & aux fan and it came back down a bit.
As soon as i got on the highway temp dropped intensly suggesting clutch fan not working properly at idle

I checked it once i got home and the fan only turns 1/4 of the way when i try to spin it, so that suggests it's fine
Radiator has been serviced, cleaned etc

I'm about to check my ign timing as i haven't set it yet

Any other ideas?

TIA :D

Yeah...check your timing.

I have had problems in the past with the thermostat sticking (both Toyota and SuperStat) and coolant temp spiking...always happened in the 1st few miles with low coolant temp. The coolant loop on the CT26 acts as a bypass...mine was removed/blocked off cause the SP61 turbo I'm running is not water cooled. I suspect pressure was holding the thermostat closed. I cut the jiggle valve off leaving the hole to pass a bit of coolant at all times...the problem disappeared ;)

timing was 11deg
i don't have any readings available, all i have is the digital dash which normal = 82-105deg C and it went over that
As soon as i'm moving it's fine, only traffic
I may try another thermostat

I did up my thermo housing tight so i'm assuming there is one in it LOL

Ian!!! LOL... well i was spewing a little coolant out the bottle but i'm so used to topping mums up to the top coz of her leak i only remembered mine at about 1/2 way up the bottle LOL
