omg stop telling me to change my driving habits people!
just because I say I'm 'on boost' doesnt mean im flooring it or speeding etc!
I get boost from 2000rpm, even with light throttle. this means a lot of my driving - normal and 'spirited' is within my boost range.

As I have said, this problem occurs randomly. It's even happened to me while going around 50kph and driving like a granny.

maybe I shouldve initially said 'while driving' rather than 'while on boost' ...

Or it happens while driving when you get boost?

This is the exact reason why I  Torsen style Diffs!

Even if they break traction the car travels in a straight line and doesn't slide down the camber of the road.

First couple of times I got on mine hard I thought the clutch was slipping and had a bud stick his head out the window and watch the rear tire ;)

What type of lsd do our cars some with stock in comparison to the Torsen?

BTW IJ I'm in love with how your car handles on that dirt road in your videos.

No that's a Torsen in the car (well a Detroit TruTrac the American version of the Torsen).

Install is a bolt in of you swap the entire pumpkin, T1 Torsens don't cope too well with shock loads but having said that I ran 500+rwhp through mine for years before I swapped it out for the 9".

Well I'd love to have a torsen, but a) they cost a lot and b) I can't find one :(

how much do you think it would be to get mine rebuilt IJ? If it needs to be done, that is.
Not sure if anyone in Tassie would do it either. No-one I've called yet does it. People down here suck, lol.

oh and habanero, I have noticed it happening a few times when boost is building, but I'm too busy watching the road to check at what boost level (<--super late edit) it most commonly happens :p

I know there's a couple of bearings in them that are a freak Toyota size so the only available ones here are Genuine so cost plenty....

Might pay you to have a "kit" sent from the USA and get someone locally to rebuild it.

I was jjust thinking if it only happens in boost then your putting to much power on your Diff hints why its giving out....possible

IJ: I've heard of people pulling the cable all the way tight and just holding it that way, I thought that would cause these issues?

Honestly, I don't see a reason to ever have an auto tranny bark gears...

Yea my diff could be dying, as It is now 23 years old and knowing how the rest of my car was when I got it I wouldnt be surprised if it's never had a fluid change in its life.
