Change is inevitible and at SILV change is constant. We are always working on new ways to make this event better. We are very excited about this new change as it will help break down the barriers between the generations.

Gone are the MkII, MkIII, and MkIV awards (NA/TurboOnly/Unlimited) from the previous years. This year we will hand out awards based on powerplants.

Before we all fly off the handle screaming a collective "WHAT?!?" please hear me out.

This will actually open the door for MkIIIs to come in and potentially sweep every category. You are now in charge of your own destiny.

The new classes being suggested are as follows:
5M Naturally Aspirated
7M Naturally Aspirated
7MGTE Stock Turbo Only - must use stock CT26 housing - internal upgrades permitted
2JZGTE Stock Twin Turbos Only - must use stock CT12 housings - internal upgrades permitted
7MGTE Upgraded Turbo Only
2JZGTE Upgraded Turbo(s) Only
7MGTE Unlimited - Anything goes
1JZGTE Unlimited - Anything goes
2JZGTE Unlimited - Anything goes

A new rule for this year is that if nobody spray's nitrous in a particular class we will not give out the "unlimited" award.

Using this breakdown we still have 10 awards (last year we gave away 10 awards) but they can to go anyone.

We are excited about this change and will have more definitions on the official SILV06 website soon.

The MkIII Smackdown will still showcase A70 Supras. Can the 1JZGTE guys step up this year?

We have another change in the works for the Show-and-Shine but you'll have to wait and see what that one is.

I've had to bring home too many of those MkIV NA awards in the past (nobody is man enough to admit they have an NA MkIV) so that class was killed off a few years ago.

This change does mean that we could see a MkII or MkIII show up with a 2JZGE swap but why would someone spend the time/energy/effort/money on this swap and NOT go with the GTE?

We don't see enough participants fitting into this class to make it worthwhile.

If someone would like to paypal me $50 I will have the award made out to read whatever class they would like. :)

eg:

Grand Champion
Jeff Lange Class

:)

Jeff - or anyone - can you change the title of this thread to be SILV06 Dyno Class Changes? I got a little typo there. :)

Would you seriously make that award? I would pay the $50 to get a SILV Grand Champion Jeff Lange Class award. I'm flying down to Vegas too, haha. Let me know.

(Also, thread edited)

Looking at the past participation of the 1Js we are actually looking at lumping them all into a single class. We can't afford to give out awards for every possible combination.

Jeff, I'll doublecheck my pricing on the awards - we use acrylic awards that are laser engraved. I never thought about it but this could be a nice fundraiser for SILV. hehehe

That would be a good idea of a fundraiser. Everyone who wants one, can get a participation trophy for a smal price. At least it will last longer than t-shirts, which goes from nice looking shirts to bcoming a mop pretty quickly ..

Unfortunately we are unable to create classes for every possible configuration. We also do not have a class for the MkI Supras. To the best of my knowledge the last time we saw a Turbo 5M/6M was 1999 when Russ came out.

We used to have a class for NA MkIVs but that too was cancelled when my shelf at home came crashing to the floor under the weight of all of the awards that I had to bring home because nobody ran in that class.

Using the other model (awards by gen) a 5M/6M turbo would likely be eclipsed by a 7MGTE MkII anyway.

Are these classes perfect? No. We are still defining these classes. We welcome any and all comments and will discuss them with our core group. We cannot guarantee that every idea will be taken but we will discuss them.

elhsupra - still working on those dyno classes. Hope to have something soon.

Jeff - OK... it is a go. Custom awards for $50 + $5 shipping anywhere in the world (can pick up in Vegas if you want though. See the official SILV06 website at http://Vegas.Supras.Org/v06 for more information.

Who says you can't buy a victory?

Mmmm, buying victory..

Stinks of a plot, but who cares, you have the trophy to prove it anyway... LOL

Sort of like diplomas right? With word processors, anyone can get a college degree....

That being said, I like the idea, and would rather have that to remember and collect dust than many other things. So how about a Most troublesome BHG on the SILV trip award?

What's the difference between these 2 besides the nitrous? Does that mean no other upgrades like IC, etc? I don' t think so but I'm just making sure. Does the first one allow upgraded turboS (twin)?

No difference other than the nitrous. The upgraded turbo will count twin turbo conversions on the 7MGTE - we have yet to see one of those show up though.

We hope to have more clear definitions around each of these classes in the near future.

"Most Troublesome BHG on the way to SILV" is fine - but we will limit each class to one winner so if someone grabs that before you do then you'll have to figure another one out. :)

We are also going to turn this into a contest. The most creative "award" will also receive a real award. So get creative. "Most wrong turns on the way to SILV06", "Most trips to the Buffet at SILV06", etc. :)
