I'm sorry to hear that Dave. I don't understand why some days are like that. It never fails, if you're in a hurry, you'll get behind every slow bastard on the highway. Somedays when you want to work on your car, every nut and bolt will be a pain in the ass to get off or other things that could be easy will be hard. Hopefully Kurt won't give up and he'll get it all done today sometime. Good luck Kurt.

Sorry for no update. I wrapped things up last night and went out with my wife, crashed when we got home, and am just now getting a chace to post up.

So here's the list. :nono:

1. Install Eibach lowering springs (before and after pics to come!) 1/4 check
2. New brake pads all around Kinda check
3. Adjust E-brake (doesn't work at all) Nope
4. Install SAFC II CHECK!
5. Install Blitz turbo timer Half check
6. Install stock intercooler that I just flushed, straightened and painted CHECK!
7. Raise exhaust (cause she's bottoming out a lot these days) Nope
8. Take a serious look at timing - possible cause of sad dyno numbers Nope
9. Install new radio antenna Nope
10. Hardwire in a triple accessory outlet CHECK!

Dave's right, it was a rough day. The front passenger spring swap turned into a nightmare when the TEMS bracket and apparently the strut top hat both broke. The nut is now stuck on the damper, which just spins when you try to turn the nut. So I've been trying to cut the top hat and bracket off with a Dremel without hurting the spring or shock. That whole thing just wasted the day away. Then the piston that the pads slide in on seized because the boot had developed a hole and it rusted. So now I need to pick up new brake parts along with more Dremel cut off discs.

But there was some good. IC is in and it gave me a chance to clean out the lower pipes and straighten the fins on my oil cooler. KUDO's to Dave and my friend Jeremiah who got the AFC installed while I worked on cutting apart the strut. Dave had to leave, but we did manage to get the outlet installed - looks great and I will post up some pics! It will be great to have power to my xm, gps and phone without having wires all over the place. ;) We also installed the wire harness for the TT and soldered up a few wires there, too. By then I was tired of working and it was time to go see 1408 with my wife.

Once the brake/suspension parts get here things will go faster, no doubt. Jeremiah's offered to come back and help with the rear springs, and as for the rest, we've already got the worst out of the way. I will try to post up a couple of pics tonight, but it's the 4th and it's time for some fun! :icon_bigg

did you want me to source the suspension parts for you still? or do you have that covered already?

I really need those parts as soon as possible if you can get them Dave. They are $$$$ at Toyota and it will take a long time for them to come in. As it is I had to order a rebuilt caliper. :(

I'm going to hack the rest of it apart this morning, and I'm praying the shock is still good when I'm done cause it's $192 discounted through Toyota. If nothing else I wonder if I can do a single Tokico along with stock TEMS up front?

There have been a few questions in PM's about the parts I need. They are "bracket" and "suspension support" as seen on pg 17 of the Front Axle and Suspension section of the TSRM:

http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=FA&P=17

Paypal funds are ready for the first person who can give me a price and can get them out next day shipping tomorrow. Shipping will be to 40228.

I'm heading outside to work on the rears now, but I will answer PM's later tonight or in the morning.

I spent a few hours on the car, and here's the latest update:

1. Install Eibach lowering springs (before and after pics to come!) 3/4 Check - still waiting on suspension parts to come in to finish.
2. New brake pads all around Kinda check - still. Toyota dealership sent me the drivers side caliper when I needed the passenger side. :nono:
3. Adjust E-brake (doesn't work at all) Not yet
4. Install SAFC II CHECK!
5. Install Blitz turbo timer Still half check
6. Install stock intercooler that I just flushed, straightened and painted CHECK!
7. Raise exhaust (cause she's bottoming out a lot these days) No, but took a look at it, and the plan's in place. :)
8. Take a serious look at timing - possible cause of sad dyno numbers Nope
9. Install new radio antenna CHECK!
10. Hardwire in a triple accessory outlet CHECK!

I'm getting there, and yes I have a few pics. I'm just too tired to post them.

I tried calling you last night, but you didn't answer. Either you go to bed early or you just don't like talking to Alabamians. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you were in bed at 10:08 p.m. I only let it ring once because I figured if you were up you'd hear it.

What parts do you need for your suspension. I still have my clip here and I could use me some of that paypal.............:biglaugh:

Anything I have here that you need..........you can have.

I was watching TV and reached for the phone but it quit ringing and I didn't recognize the number. Thanks for the offer Jay, but the parts are on their way and should be here this morning!

I got the threads on the shock straightened for free at a local machine shop yesterday, so it looks like things are heading in the right direction at last. I can't wait to see how the car looks with the new springs!

They definitely were. The nut fought me all the way off, and they were screwed up. Maybe messed up by dirt or a burr instead of fully cross threaded, but almost fubar'd.

Yeah, time to take care of that with an update!

1. Install Eibach lowering springs (before and after pics to come!) CHECK!
2. New brake pads all around -CHECK!
3. Adjust E-brake (doesn't work at all) - Problems, and I'm out of patience. A friend with a car shop is looking into the loud noise coming from rear passenger wheel. :(
4. Install SAFC II - CHECK!
5. Install Blitz turbo timer - CHECK! (just need to take care of e brake)
6. Install stock intercooler that I just flushed, straightened and painted CHECK!
7. Raise exhaust (cause she's bottoming out a lot these days) - CHECK!
8. Take a serious look at timing - possible cause of sad dyno numbers - CHECK!
9. Install new radio antenna CHECK!
10. Hardwire in a triple accessory outlet CHECK! - Nevermind...

So it's all pretty much done, and she looks soooooo much better on the new springs! I have to get some pictures posted.

I've said before that I SUCK at wiring and just proved myself right. I managed to screw up while hardwiring in my 3 plug outlet and burned the freaking thing up - smoke pouring out as soon as I put a plug in it. :(

I took a look at my timing and found that it was only advanced to 5 or 6*. Weird, because I know it was higher before, so I went ahead and advanced it to 10* for now.

The other thing is that my ebrake is a mess. Somebody had put the rear calipers on the wrong position and so there was no access to the adjusters. I didn't feel like pulling the calipers and thought I would see how far I could get with the lever adjustment. It adjusted to about 7 clicks and holds the car on a hill, but now I have a really bad clicking from the rear passenger wheel. It's definitely the e brake, but I am out of patience and time since we are heading for Chicago on Friday for a long weekend. I'm dropping the car off at our old mechanic's shop tomorrow to let him mess with it and convert my air over to R134. With all that going on, it might be next week before I get pictures posted up, but WOW what a difference!

Oh yeah, that reminds me; I brought the car in for an alignment and they weren't able to get everything in spec. Mostly problems in the front because some dork (probably the last dork from a year ago) rounded off several of the bolts/nuts/whatever. Not happy about that. :nono:
